Police believe a shooting and carjacking by masked men Monday in Southfield might be related to a violent Dearborn attack in which a resident was held at gunpoint while armed robbers assaulted his fiance, officials said.

Southfield police find 16-year-old Detroit girl with gunshot wound in back of car after reports of shots fired
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Police said a 16-year-old girl from Detroit is in a hospital after being shot in Southfield. Southfield police responded to reports of a shooting on Friday at 2:50 a.m. in the area of 8 Mile Road and Lahser Road. Officers found a 16-year-old Detroit girl in the back seat of the vehicle who was bleeding. Police said the investigation revealed that the girl had been shot by a known subject. Police said the girl is in stable condition at an area hospital.

17-year-old man charged in connection to armed carjacking in Ferndale
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection to a carjacking in Ferndale. Jacarie Vance is accused of being involved in a carjacking on Thursday at 7:19 a.m. at a Shell gas station at 1100 W Eight Mile Road. Vance is accused of pointing a handgun at the victim and demanding his wallet and car keys. Vance is accused of fleeing westbound on 8 Mile Road in the victim’s vehicle. Vance was arraigned 43rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on one count of armed robbery and one count carjacking.
