Police across the nation are warning their residents to not fall for this latest scheme. Scammers are setting up outside of popular shopping centers, “playing” violin and asking for donations to help pay for things like rent and food.
Tornado confirmed in Southeast Michigan after weekend storms
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A “brief” tornado was confirmed during weekend storms in Oakland County. The National Weather Service in Detroit and Pontiac says an EF0 tornado occurred in Springfield Township on Sunday, Oct. 3. The storm had estimated maximum winds of 65 mph. The tornado began at 6:19 p.m. about six miles southeast of Holly and ended at 6:22 p.m. five miles northwest of Clarkston. An EF0 tornado is the lowest classification and involved storms with winds between 65 mph and 85 mph.

Boyfriend calls 911, confesses to killing girlfriend in Springfield Township, police say
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP – Oakland County deputies said a 60-year-old woman was found dead Thursday in a Springfield Township home after the woman’s 50-year-old boyfriend confessed to killing her. According to a press release from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the man called 911 at about 5:52 p.m. and reported that he killed his girlfriend before hanging up. Deputies responded to the scene and found the woman, believed to be the man’s live-in girlfriend, lying on the floor. The man confessed to the killing again when deputies arrive, the press release read. The man was taken to the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
