Democratic U.S. Rep Haley Stevens is heading back to Congress for a third term. Election results from the Associated Press show Stevens beat Republican newcomer Mark Ambrose handily in the race for Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. Related: See all the Michigan election results here. First elected in 2018, Stevens replaced a retiring Republican after serving on the auto industry task force under President Barack Obama. Stevens won a bitter primary in August when redistricting pitted her against 9th District U.S. Rep. Andy Levin.

Haley Stevens coasted to victory to win the Democratic nomination to represents Michigan’s new 11th U.S. House district. The Associated Press called the race just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night. With a little more than 70% of the vote counted, Stevens had won support from about 60% of voters. Levin had been a vocal critic of some of the government’s action, which had been enough to draw their ire. In the race’s final weeks he began receiving support from a few outside organizations but the spending paled in comparison.

And, similar to her, Kildee also reported fundraising in the millions during this fundraising quarter. In his July report, Kildee brought in $1.16 million and ended the quarter with just under $3.3 million left to spend in the campaign season. He reported fundraising $522,302 this quarter while spending $58,888, leaving him with just under $463,414 still on hand. Much like in the 12th U.S. House district, its expected that whoever wins the Democratic primary is likely to go on and represent the district.

U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Rochester Hills, was reelected to a second term serving Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. Stevens was the first Democrat to represent the district since David Curson was elected to serve a partial term in 2012. If she wins reelection, Stevens would be the first Democrat to serve a second term in the district’s modern form. Stevens sought a second term to support economic growth in the district and build on the Affordable Care Act while protecting coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. Here are Michigan’s candidates for U.S. Congress in the 2020 General Election

The Republican initially won the seat in 2016 by 53,000 votes over Lon Johnson, former Michigan Democratic Party chair. Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, left, faces a challenge in the November 2020 general election from Democrat Bryan Berghoef, a Holland pastor. Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District includes all of Lake, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, and Ottawa counties and areas of Allegan, Kent, and Mason counties. But both candidates say they have what it takes to effectively represent Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District. The 7th Congressional District also supported President Donald Trump in the 2016 election when Walberg beat Driskell with 55% of the vote.

Woodland Mall to host Black-owned business showcase

KENTWOOD, MI — Shoppers will have an opportunity to check out products from 40 regional businesses participating in Woodland Mall’s Black-owned Business Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 24. Michigan postal workers express concern about current working conditions

Tlaibs spoke in response to the recent statement from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy about concerns of current conditions inside post offices nationwide and worries about mail in ballots. DeJoy released a statement stating, The postal service is ready today to handle whatever volume of election mail it receives this fall.But the changes were already made. We stand before the United States Postal Service to say, heroes work here and we have your back, said Rep. Haley Stevens. People who work for the United States Postal Service have come to work, have put themselves at risk, in order to meet the commitment, said Rep. Dan Kildee. Several voters are concerned that the ballots wont be counted but Benson said theyre working to make sure that wont happen.

DETROIT A group of Michigan lawmakers is calling on Kroger to extend the $2 pay raise it gave to workers during the pandemic, saying it would be a slap in the face to let the Hero Pay expire this weekend while the coronavirus (COVID-19) remains a threat. Michigan lawmakers are saying because the state still has among the most confirmed COVID-19 cases in the nation, Kroger workers are still at risk. As long as this health crisis persists and Kroger is open for business, Kroger has a duty to continue Hero Pay for its brave workers, the lawmakers wrote in the letter. Ending Hero Pay while Kroger employees continue to put themselves at great risk is a slap in the face to everyone who has enabled your doors to remain open.

Back home, at-risk Democrats face voters' partisan divide on impeachment

Here are the Michigan Democrats supporting Trump impeachment hearings

WASHINGTON - Calls for impeachment hearings from U.S. House Democrats are increasing after President Trump's latest scandal. More than 140 House Democrats have now called for impeachment hearings to begin amid fallout from the reported call between Trump and the Ukraine, where the president allegedly threatened to withhold financial aid in exchange for an investigation into the Biden family. Many Democrats had previously called for impeachment hearings following the Mueller report. We do not arrive at this conclusion lightly, and we call on our colleagues in Congress to consider the use of all congressional authorities available to us, including the power of 'inherent contempt' and impeachment hearings, to address these new allegations, find the truth and protect our national security." Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, a former Republican who has since become an independent, has also called for impeachment proceedings, bringing the total number of representatives to 146.

Lawmakers renew call to impeach Trump following Ukraine scandal, including all Michigan U.S. House Democrats

"Over the last several days, I have been deeply alarmed by reports of serious abuse of power by President Trump," Stevens said in a statement. "If investigations confirm recent reports, these actions represent impeachable offenses that threaten to undermine the integrity of our elections and jeopardize the balance of power within the federal government. "On Monday, seven U.S. House Democrats with military or intelligence backgrounds, including Michigan's Rep. Elissa Slotkin, signed a joint op-ed published bycalling for impeachment. Also on Monday, U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell said she supported an impeachment inquiry.Michigan Democratic U.S. Reps Dan Kildee, Andy Levin, and Brenda Lawrence have all previously called for Trump's impeachment. And according to a new report, officials say Trump ordered his administration to withhold almost $400 million of military aid to Ukraine just days before calling for Biden to be investigated.

A former Obama administration official will face a Michigan co-chairman for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in the race for the suburban Detroit congressional seat held by retiring Republican Rep. Dave Trott. Haley Stevens won the Democratic nomination, edging out four other Democrats in Tuesday’s District 11 race. She was a Treasury official who worked on the auto bailout under Obama. Detroit-area business executive Lena Epstein won the Republican nomination. Although it has traditionally leaned Republican, Trump barely won the district in 2016.
