Video shows residents being rescued from burning apartment in Mount Clemens
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. โ Macomb County Sheriffโs Office deputies rushed into the River North Village Apartment in Mount Clemens overnight Sunday to help get people out. As soon as they arrived, people were jumping from windows as fire and heavy smoke covered everything. Eight people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and dozens of people were displaced by the fire. 61-year-old Harrison Township man killed in Macomb County crash
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. โ Officials are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Macomb County. Macomb County Sheriffโs deputies were sent to Hall Road and Gratiot Avenue on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. for the report of a crash. Police said Reed Styers, 61, of Harrison Township was killed in the crash. A white Chevrolet van being driven by a 69-year-old man from Casco Township was driving on Hall Road, east of Gratiot Avenue. READ: More Macomb County news
Rise in speeding drivers puts Macomb neighborhood children at risk, residents say
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Since the coronavirus pandemic began, one Metro Detroit neighborhood saw a dramatic rise in speeding vehicles. Drivers have used the Macomb Township neighborhood as a way to cut through, putting children and families at risk. โBut this feels like a main road.โLocal 4 Defenders set up a radar gun and caught drivers going way over the speed limit in the neighborhood filled with children. Residents said the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office was asked to patrol the area, but all they did was put up a device to track a vehicleโs speed. Since the Defenders began looking into the problem, the Sheriffโs Office reinstated the radar trailer in the subdivision to gather more data from speeders.

2 arrested in Harrison Township after police pursuit down I-94
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A routine traffic stop turned into a chaotic pursuit on I-94 Thursday morning. According to authorities, Macomb County Sheriffโs deputies made a traffic stop just before 12:30 a.m. on a red Chevrolet pickup truck near Crocker Boulevard and Reimold Road. Police said the truck pulled away as the deputy approached and fled on I-94 eastbound. Police said the suspect began to deliberately ram the deputy vehicles, causing on vehicle to drive off the highway. Storing, a 31-year-old woman from Clinton Township, was arrested for flee and elude, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of heroin.
Sheriffโs office investigating after shots fired near deputies in Mount Clemens
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich, โ Police are investigating after shots were fired near two Macomb County Sheriffโs deputies early Tuesday morning. According to the sheriffโs office, at about 12:25 a.m. two deputies were parked and talking in a parking lot in the area of Gratiot and Cass avenues when they both heard a gunshot in the area. Officials say a second gunshot followed and seemed to cross their vehicles. Officials say it is unclear if the gunshots were fired at the deputies intentionally. The sheriffโs office says the scene has been canvassed and officials have not found anything suspicious at this time.

Macomb County deputies rescue suspect from drowning after chase
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. A man was saved from drowning by deputies after fleeing from them in Macomb County. Macomb County Sheriff, Anthony Wickersham, says it all started during an undercover drug operation. Our sheriffs enforcement team was looking at a house that was selling narcotics in the city. The suspect realized he could not swim and nearly drowned. The 60-year-old suspect who already had a warrant was arrested after being pulled from the water and taken to the hospital.

HARRISON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Sydney Parham, a 26-year-old woman from Fraser, was charged with arson in connection to a Wednesday Harrison Township vehicle fire. According to authorities, Macomb County Sheriffโs deputies were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the San Remo Villa Apartment complex on Union Lake Road on reports of a vehicle fire. Harrison Township Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Police said they located Parham in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Parham was taken into custody, checked out medically, and lodged at the Macomb County Jail.

2 families rescued from New Haven apartment fire
NEW HAVEN, Mich. โ Macomb County Sheriff deputies and the New Haven Fire Department rescued two families from a fire at Pinewood Apartments on Thursday morning. Police say at about 5:50 a.m. a deputy patrolling the apartment complex discovered a unit on fire, called for assistance and began helping residents evacuate the building. Police say the family was evacuated safely but suffered from smoke inhalation and was transported to the hospital. One deputy suffered from severe smoke inhalation and the others are being examined, officials said. Macomb County Sheriff Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.
Phone scammer posing as member of Macomb County Sheriffโs Office requests money in lieu of arrest
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office is warning residents of a phone scammer targeting the area. Officials say there have been multiple recent reports of a caller posing as a member of the Macomb County Sheriffโs Office requesting money from residents in lieu of being arrested. The sheriffโs office says the phone calls are not legitimate and warns residents from giving away personal information or meeting up with the caller. Anyone who receives a scam call and is concerned is encouraged to visit the sheriffโs office to verify any arrest warrants in their name. Officials say the Macomb County Detective Bureau is investigating the scam phone calls.
27-year-old dies while ice fishing in Harrison Township
HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 27-year-old man died ice fishing Sunday near San Juan Street and North River Road, officials say. The victim and another man were ice fishing when the victim lost his cell phone in the water and went in to find it. He did not resurface and that is when emergency services responded. The victimโs body was found several hours later, according to police. The Macomb County Sheriffโs Office is still investigating the incident.
