Ann Arbor chefs join Michigan Theater to discuss culinary industry, answer questions Monday

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – At 7 p.m. on Monday, Michigan Theater audiences can learn more about four inspiring Ann Arbor chefs. As part of its Women’s Voices series presented by Toyota, Michigan Theater will begin virtual screenings of Her Name is Chef on Friday. The documentary explores the changing culture of the culinary industry through the stories of six female chefs. Virtual screenings cost $12 to rent, $10 for Michigan Theater members and is free for gold members. If rented through the MTF AgileLink streaming platform, 50 percent of proceeds from the film benefit the independent Ann Arbor theater.

Ann Arbor’s Miss Kim partners with Detroit based Saffron De Twah for three course fusion menus

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Get the best of two worlds with a new collaboration coming from the kitchen of Kerrytown’s Miss Kim. Partnering with Chef Omar Anani of the James Beard-nominated Detroit restaurant Saffron De Twah, Chef Ji Hye Kim, a James Beard award nominee herself, is offering unique Moroccan-Korean menus only available on Wednesday nights. This week’s menu, available for pickup on Wednesday, Jan.27, is sandwich themed. According to a newsletter from Miss Kim, pre-order items for that menu sold out in three days,The collaborative pop-up is planned to last through Valentine’s Day, says the Saffron De Twah website. Miss Kim is at 415 N. 5th Ave. in Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown neighborhood.

Ann Arbor’s Miss Kim hosts pop-up series with local partners

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Expect pizza and wine during Miss Kim’s December lineup of tasty pop-ups. On the tails of its successful November pop-up series with James Beard Award-nominated chef Max Sussman, Miss Kim is partnering up with local food personalities Chef Jack Goforth and Kristie Brablec. From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 5, 12 and 19, Goforth’s fermented Neapolitan-styled pizza will be served with wines selected by Brablec specifically for the pop-up. Pizzas are limited and available for pre-order through the Miss Kim website. Pick up pop-up pizza and wine (and some Korean food) at the Kerrytown restaurant at 415 N. Fifth Ave.
