Police said they have taken a 17-year-old into custody in connection with a shooting involving officers last week during the execution of a search warrant on the city’s east side.

The shooting happened in September 2025 on Kelly Road, near where 7 Mile Road turns into Moross Road.

It happened at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Cheshire Street and Moross Road.

A driver was killed Thursday in a two-car crash on the I-94 Service Drive.

Since Friday, the gas station at Mack Avenue and Moross Road in Grosse Pointe Farms has been without power.

Police said the man told staff in the emergency department of the hospital that he had been shot while on the eastbound lanes of I-94. EASTPOINTE, Mich. - Friends and family gathered Saturday night to honor the life of Ervin Smith, a Warren resident who was killed Thursday in what police think was a hit-and-run. Police said the crash occurred on 10 Mile Road near Dale Avenue just before 11 p.m. Smith was riding a motorcycle westbound on 10 Mile Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. Witnesses reported seeing a black GMC Envoy leaving the scene. Friends and family members assembled where he crashed to remember him for who he was -- a man who loved his family and would give the shirt off his back. Family members urge the driver of the Envoy to turn themselves in.
