Prosecutor to review death of NHL goalie Matiss Kivlenieks
The Novi Police Department has competed its investigation into the fireworks death of Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks and turned over its findings to the Oakland County prosecutor’s office for further review. “We sent it to the prosecutor’s office for review due to the high-profile nature and we’re not actively seeking charges in the case,” Lt. Jason Meier of the Novi Police told MLive. Meier said the investigation into the Fourth of July incident confirmed the death to be accidental. The incident happened during a gathering at the home of former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Manny Legace, who is the goalie coach for the Blue Jackets. He played eight games with the Blue Jackets over the past two seasons, including the final two games of 2021 against the Red Wings.

As long as the infraction is minor, when they pull people over, instead of a ticket they get a $30 gift card. Shot fired inside Novi mobile home where man has barricaded himself; no injuries reported
NOVI, Mich. A 44-year-old man has reportedly barricaded inside of a mobile home in Novi on Thursday morning. UPDATE: Barricaded gunman peacefully exits Novi mobile home, police sayOfficials say beginning at about 5 a.m. the man barricaded himself inside the Country Cousin mobile home after his mother called police saying she wanted to get him into rehab. Police knocked on the door of the home off Haggerty Road near Twelve Mile Road when they heard a shot fired inside. Officials say the man is alive and alone inside of the home. Novi Police and a SWAT team have reportedly made contact with the man.
Novi police officer helps Romulus man tie a tie before wedding
ROMULUS, Mich. Many men can relate to not being able to tie a tie -- and many women can relate to helping men tie their ties. But recently, those options failed and a Romulus man had to try a much bolder approach. On Friday evening Demetrius Kirk had just bought his first suit and tie and him and his wife were in Novi headed to a wedding but neither could tie the tie. He said he saw a police officer and decided to pull over and ask him for help. Officer Kyle Smith was able to help.
Repeated sex offender since 1985 charged in indecent exposure incident at Twelve Oaks Mall, police say
NOVI, Mich. – Daniel Lawrence Frescura was charged with indecent exposure Tuesday after allegedly exposing himself to a customer at Twelve Oaks Mall. According to authorities, Frescura went into a dressing room, left the door open and waited for someone to find him. Police said a customer took a photo of him and showed it to police, who were able to take him into custody. Frescura has a record of multiple indecent exposure arrests, convictions and guilty pleas dating back to 1985. He is expected to return to court Wednesday.
