DETROIT – On Monday, the North American International Auto Show announced it will not hold the annual event in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2020, NAIAS also canceled the event as a result of the pandemic. The show was canceled last year after it was announced that Detroit’s TCF Center would become a temporary hospital for COVID patients. “We’ve arrested over 70 impaired drivers this month alone,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw. “We know people are still going out, even if there’s nowhere to go.”Shaw said that number will likely increase on New Year’s Eve. Speaking at a COVID briefing Tuesday, Whitmer specifically asked everyone to stay home for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. “We are coming through the end of 2020 in a stronger position than most, because of you,” said Whitmer. The annual Mitch Albom Radiothon has raised more than $5.7 million dollars since 2012. All of the proceeds raised goes to one of SAY Detroit’s nine programs or affiliated charities in Detroit that it supports. SAY Detroit was founded in 2006 by Albom and is committed to working in Detroit’s neediest neighborhoods with health care, housing and education including the SAY Detroit Family Health clinic, Working Homes/Working Families and Detroit SAY Play Center at Lipke Park.

DETROIT – The 68th annual Detroit Autorama is taking place this weekend at TCF Center. Detroit Autorama is known as America’s greatest hot rod show. Organizers of the event say it will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at TCF Center. Tickets are $21 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12 years of age. TCF Center is located at 1 Washington Boulevard in Detroit.

DETROIT – Each year for the past 46 years, Noel Night has descended upon Midtown and blessed our holiday season with horse-drawn carriages, hot chocolate, roasted almonds and magic shows. Midtown Detroit Inc., which organizes Noel Night each year, announced new daytime hours last year, a measure put in place after four teenagers were shot during Noel Night in 2017. Hours for the event are split 1-7 p.m. north of Warren Avenue and 5-10 p.m. south of Warren Avenue. At nearly eighty years old, Ural Thomas is a hot soul shouter and velvety-smooth crooner from Portland, Oregon.
