3 race cars worth $200K-plus stolen from trailers at Michigan auto shop

WESTLAND, MI – Three high-performance vehicles were stolen Monday night from a Michigan auto shop specializing in superchargers, WDIV Local 4 reports. A 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2006 Ford Mustang, 2016 Chevy Camaro - all heavily modified - were stolen out of locked trailers at Magnuson Superchargers on Executive Drive in Westland, the report said. The vehicles are worth $200,000 to $250,000. Suspects were caught on surveillance cameras stealing catalytic converters and looting a trailer full of tools from neighboring businesses the same night, the reports said. This case is under investigation.

Woman, 68, dies in fiery three-car crash on M-140 in West Michigan

BERRIEN COUNTY, MI – Police have identified the 68-year-old woman who was killed in a fiery, three-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon that left three other people hospitalized with injuries from the crash. The crash caused the Chevy to be pushed into the southbound lane of M-140, according to the report. He was transported to Spectrum Health Lakeland to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the crash, police said. Cherokee chief calls on Jeep to stop using tribe’s name on popular vehicle

TAHLEQUAH, OK -- The leader of the Cherokee Nation says it’s time for Jeep to stop using the tribe’s name on it’s popular Jeep Grand Cherokee model. Hoskin went on to say he believes sports teams and other corporations should also refrain from using Native American names, images, mascots logs and more despite the generally positive meaning behind using them, according to the Associated Press. Instead, Hoskin would like to see more of an effort made to learn about the history of the Native American tribe and what they’ve meant to the country. While Hoskin is asking sports teams to do away with Native American names and mascots, some have already moved away from those names. The Washington Football Team of the NFL changed its name prior to last season after being known as the Washington Redskins for decades.

Revamped Detroit auto plant to start making new Jeep by March

DETROIT – A revamped version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV with three rows of seats will roll off the assembly line this spring at a restored Detroit factory complex. Fiat Chrysler unveiled the Grand Cherokee L on Thursday and said production would start by the end of March. It hired 3,850 people to work at the company's first new auto plant in Detroit in nearly three decades. Current versions of the Grand Cherokee are now being built at FCA's Jefferson North plant in Detroit. Once Detroit Assembly is up and running, Jefferson North will be converted to build the new versions, FCA said.

4 men arrested for allegedly shooting at officers on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT – Four people are in custody after shots were fired at a police vehicle. At about 9 p.m. Thursday, an undercover police vehicle with an auto theft task force was checking on a white Dodge Charger with improper plates as well as a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Occupants in both vehicles started shooting at the police car. Police tracked the vehicles at another location, leading to a barricaded gunman situation at a third location -- a home on Robson Street. You can watch the full story in the video above.

2 killed in Interstate 80 crash in Grundy County, including truck driver from River Grove

State police said the Jeep had been stopped on the right shoulder of the interstate for an unknown reason. The driver of the Jeep began trying to merge back into traffic, into the path of an oncoming 2019 black Freightliner truck-tractor semitrailer combination, officials said. The Freightliner, driven by Heard and traveling in the right lane, struck the rear of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
