We are now less than 10 days away from one of the biggest events of the year - America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardener White. The push is on to get everything ready, so we invited Tony Michaels, the President, and CEO of the Parade Company to sit down with hosts Jason Carr and Tati Amare to let us know all that is happening behind the scenes before the big day.
Calvin Johnson Jr., Detroit Bishop Edgar Vann named Grand Marshals of America’s Thanksgiving Parade
The Parade Company announced Thursday that NFL Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson Jr. and Detroit Bishop Edgar Vann will be Grand Marshals for the 95th annual America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner-White.
Battle of the Bands 2020 winner
You voted for your favorite high school marching band that performed during “America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner-White” and it was a very close race -- your support was impressive this year. The results are in, and the winner of the Battle of the Bands is...St. Clair High School Marching Saints! The Parade Company will present the trophy pictured below to the Marching Saints. Winner of Skillman Foundation float design contest sees drawing brought to life
DETROIT – With a few days left before the annual America’s Thanksgiving Parade, the Skillman Foundation and Parade Company unveiled the winner of the foundation’s float design contest. “The Skillman Foundation is happy to have been able to sponsor a float designed by young people for 29 years in a row,” said Tonya Allen, CEO and president of Skillman Foundation. “We’re excited about it and we’re glad that the Parade Company could pull off this fantastic day despite the pandemic.”The float was designed by 13-year-old John Baker IV. “I’m very fortunate that it got picked because all of the other honorable mentions were amazing,” he said. On Thanksgiving morning, coverage begins at 6 a.m. on WDIV-Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit.com with a special edition of Local 4 News Today hosted by Rhonda Walker, Evrod Cassimy and Brandon Roux.
America’s Thanksgiving Parade goes virtual for 2020
DETROIT – America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner-White will still happen this year, but without crowds and for a TV and web audience only. In order to keep the tradition going, Parade Company President and CEO Tony Michaels said this year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be unlike anything we’ve seen before. We’re just getting plans together for this virtual event.”This year’s theme is “We Are One Together.” The parade will honor frontline workers and heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic. “We want everyone to know you’re going to see a great great show with all the great floats and a lot of great things happening presented by Gardener White,” Michaels said. A very different Ford Fireworks display takes place Monday
DETROIT The Ford Fireworks is a Metro Detroit tradition that needed to be changed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show will not happen over the Detroit River in Downtown Detroit. Michaels said the 2020 Ford Fireworks is 25% larger than last years event. DETROIT – Gardner-White will be a presenting sponsor of America’s Thanksgiving Parade this fall. The new name of the event is America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner-White. The parade is in its 94th year and is produced by The Parade Company and WDIV Local 4. “We are elated to welcome Gardner-White to The Parade Company family and are incredibly grateful to have a partner whose commitment signifies an exciting future for America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner-White,” said Tony Michaels, President and CEO of The Parade Company.
