ANN ARBOR, MI – The Salvation Army of Washtenaw County, in partnership with Briarwood Mall, hosted the “Hope Marches On” Kettle Kickoff on Wednesday, Nov. 17. “For the next six weeks or so until Christmas Eve, we’ll have our iconic red kettles set up all throughout Washtenaw County,” said Major Brian Goodwill of the Washtenaw County Salvation Army. More than two dozen kettles can be found across Washtenaw county, including locations such as Briarwood Mall, Walmart and Sam’s Club. In addition to the red kettle campaign, also is launching its annual Angel Tree program at the mall. Salvation Army has served the Grand Haven community for 99 years, currently providing utility, rental and food assistance, emergency and transitional housing, summer programs for youth and back-to-school and Christmas assistance.

The Chick-fil-A Foundation released its 2018 donations report Monday and touted the funding it provided to charities including Covenant House, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army. The Atlanta-based fast food chain announced that in 2019 it will donate to organizations that focus on education, hunger and homelessness. Chick-fil-A donated $1.65 million to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and $115,000 to The Salvation Army in 2018.
