Cash App data breach: 8 million users affected
More than 8 million users of mobile payment app Cash App could be affected by a data breach, according to documents from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. On Monday, Block, the financial service company that owns Cash App, said it learned a former employee downloaded the information in December, USA Today reported. The downloaded data didn’t include usernames, passwords, Social Security numbers or bank account information but did show full names and brokerage account numbers. The downloaded information also includes information from Cash App Investing, including brokerage portfolio value, holdings and trading activity. Major League Baseball and the union for its players met face-to-face on Monday and plan to do it again on Tuesday, according to several reports, including USA Today. That alone counts as good news, even if there’s plenty of work to be done to reach a deal to end the now seven-week-long lockout.
