GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI – Alcohol appears to be a factor in a fatal motorcycle crash Tuesday night in Oakland County, police said. The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene, Michigan State Police said in a news release. The vehicle was traveling on Dixie Highway near Grange Hall Road in Groveland Township when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed. MSP troopers responded around 10:15 p.m.Next of kin have been notified but the victim’s identity has not been released. An autopsy and vehicle inspection are pending.mlive.com

GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI – A man with autism who went missing from his group home was rescued from a pond after he fell through the ice Wednesday night, March 16, WXYZ Detroit reports. Police officers responded to a report of a man with autism who had wandered from his group home in Groveland Township. About two hours later, Michigan State Police troopers were notified that someone had fallen through ice into a pond about 4.5 miles from the home. Troopers found the missing man there. Michigan teen accused of killing her dad by throwing chemicals on him
GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI -- An 18-year-old Groveland Township woman has been charged with homicide following the death of her father last week. According to the Associated Press, Megan Imirowicz was previously charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count of domestic violence after she allegedly threw a chemical mixture on her father, causing severe burns to his body. The alleged attack took place in October and left the father with chemical burns all over his body.mlive.com
Man killed in ATV accident, police say alcohol was a factor
GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI -- A man driving an ATV was killed Saturday evening after he lost control of the vehicle at a high rate of speed and crashed. Michigan State Police were called to the intersection of McGinnis and Jossman Roads in northern Oakland County around 10:20 p.m. after the man crashed the ATV while riding on private property. At some point during the ride, the driver lost control and crashed, pinning him in the ATV. The driver pronounced dead at the scene while the other two riders were uninjured in the accident. Homicide investigation underway after police find man dead in Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Police are investigating after a man was found dead at a home in Oakland County. Michigan State Police troopers responded to the residence in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Drive in Groveland Township at 2:45 p.m. on March 5 for a welfare check. The found the male dead after they entered the home. Detectives have obtained a search warrant for the home and have determined and are now treating the investigation as a homicide. GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, MI – A 3-year-old girl was allegedly tortured and abused, resulting in her death on Saturday, Dec. 19, in Gloveland Township. The victim, Trinity Chandler, was in the care of her mom’s live-in boyfriend while her mother worked the night shift when the tragedy occurred, the Detroit News reports. That man, 29-year-old Samual Smart of Holly, was arraigned Tuesday, Dec. 22, on charges of torture and first-degree child abuse, both felonies punishable by up to life imprisonment, Michigan State Police Metro Detroit said in a tweet. Woman arrested for driving while intoxicated after motorcyclist dies in Groveland Township crash
GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. A motorcyclist was killed when a woman rear-ended them at a high rate of speed early Sunday morning, officials say. Michigan State Police say at about 3:30 a.m. a woman was traveling north on I-75 near Lahring Road at a high rate of speed when she rear-ended the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was killed from the impact of the crash, officials said. The woman who struck the motorcyclist was arrested for operating her vehicle while intoxicated. Northbound lanes of I-75 and two southbound lanes were closed on Sunday following the crash.

Dive team finds body of missing Groveland Township ice fisherman
GROVELAND TWP., Mich. – Rescuers in Groveland Township found the body of a missing fisherman who is believed to have fallen through the ice on Hartwig Lake near Groveland and Van Roads in Groveland Township. The Groveland Township Fire Department requested the assistance of the Oakland County Sheriff Department's Dive Team and Aviation Unit. We decided to call it that night and at that point it was a recovery," said Matt Snyder, with the Sheriff's Department. "It's especially hard with our divers because they got probably 100 bounds of gear, so they kept falling through." A remote operated vehicle found the man's body under the ice just after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
