Dive team finds body of missing Groveland Township ice fisherman
GROVELAND TWP., Mich. – Rescuers in Groveland Township found the body of a missing fisherman who is believed to have fallen through the ice on Hartwig Lake near Groveland and Van Roads in Groveland Township. The Groveland Township Fire Department requested the assistance of the Oakland County Sheriff Department's Dive Team and Aviation Unit. We decided to call it that night and at that point it was a recovery," said Matt Snyder, with the Sheriff's Department. "It's especially hard with our divers because they got probably 100 bounds of gear, so they kept falling through." A remote operated vehicle found the man's body under the ice just after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
