Man goes to parents’ Oakland County home, uses brother’s old phone to download nude photos of children
A 39-year-old man was arrested for going to his parents’ home in Oakland County while they were out of town and using his brother’s old phone and a work laptop to download pictures of nude children, authorities said.

Huntington Woods city buildings to close to public due to COVID-19
HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich. – All Huntington Woods city buildings will be closed to the public beginning on Wednesday. The closures include City Hall, the Public Works office and the Public Safety Department. The library and Gillham Recreation Center will also remain closed to the public. The city will evaluate when to reopen in three weeks. Residents can use drop boxes to pay water and tax bills.

Woman faces second-degree murder charge for crash that killed Cranbrook Kingswood football coach
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Huntington Woods woman is facing a second-degree murder charge for a crash that killed a Cranbrook Kingswood football coach. Prosecutors said Wendy Ellen Bass was drunk behind the wheel when she struck and killed Ben Jones, 30, on the I-696 Service Drive in August. Jones was going to begin his second season as head coach before he was killed. Jones was killed. Bass was arraigned on second-degree murder charges and operating under the influence causing death and reckless driving causing death.

Detroit Zoo staff rescues turkey vulture, joins wild vultures
ROYAL OAK, Mich. A young turkey vulture was given a second chance after Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) staff rescued the bird found trapped in a stairwell on a golf course in Huntington Woods, zoo officials said Monday. Wild turkey vultures are often spotted near the habitat roosting and sharing food with zoo vultures. When the bird was well enough, it joined the other wild turkey vultures. One day, the bird was gone, and thats exactly what we wanted to happen.Approximately 25 wild turkey vultures linger around the zoo throughout the winter season. Van Dam said staff believes the birds parents frequent the zoo and we hope they have reunited.

9-year-old Huntington Woods girl says man tried to lure her to his car
HUNTINGTON WOODS, Mich. Officials said a resident of Huntington Woods reported that his 9-year-old daughter said while she was riding her back a White man with black hair in his 40s was sitting in a car and asked her for directions to the library. It happened in the area of Talbot and Newport on Monday at 11:45 a.m. The child pointed the way to the library and began to ride away. The girl told her father that the man in the car told her he had a video on his phone that she could watch. The girl ignored the man and left the area on her bicycle.

MoGo bike sharing expands in Detroit, southern Oakland County
DETROIT The MoGo bicycle sharing system is expanding in Detroit and southern Oakland County. MoGo launched in Downtown Detroit during the spring of 2017. When we see other people riding bikes in the city, we yell out, Go Mogo, Georgea Cole said. The Cole family, from New Center in Detroit, has been enjoying MoGo since it launched. We now have 620 bikes located at 75 stations in Detroit, Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Berkley and Huntington Woods, said Lisa Nuszkowski, founder and CEO of MoGo.

2 men struck by cars, killed after pulling over on I-696 due to minor crash, MSP says
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Two drivers were killed on eastbound I-696 in Oakland County when two cars struck them while they were standing outside their vehicles following a minor crash, police said. The two drivers had been involved in a minor crash around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of I-696 between the Woodward Avenue and Coolidge Highway exits, according to authorities. “A minor crash -- two male individuals get out of their vehicles waling around and another vehicle comes through and hits them,” Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw said. “Right now we believe we have four vehicles involved, two male fatalities,” Shaw said. “If you’re involved with a traffic crash, it’s just a traffic crash,” Shaw said.
