ANN ARBOR, MI - Ann Arbor Public Schools has been busy working on a wide range of facility improvements since the passing of a bond in 2019. AAPS has spent $94 million on capital projects during first phase of bond projects, with 75% of expenditures coming via bond funds and another 25% from the district’s sinking fund. The Ann Arbor School Board began considering projects in late 2020 and has approved more than $153 million on a variety of projects, with work completed on air conditioning and LED lighting, roofing, paving projects, the installation of solar arrays on school rooftops, playground projects and theater upgrades. “By the end of 2024 we should be completed with our air conditioning and lighting projects,” Corona said. Projects without cost amounts have not yet received school board approval, however, while providing project funding totals don’t mean work on those projects are complete.

Recent success for Huron and Dexter football teams makes clash more meaningful

ANN ARBOR – Between 2014 and 2018, Ann Arbor Huron and Dexter’s football teams were basically a guaranteed win for opponents. Dexter went winless from 2014 through the 2017 season, while Huron finished 0-9 each year from 2015 through 2018, with each at one point holding the title for the state’s longest losing streak. Those were brutal times for the two squads, but with the hiring of Phil Jacobs at Dexter and Antaiwn Mack at Huron, both teams have flipped the switch and will clash on Friday at Huron in a game that will display two of Michigan’s best high school football turnaround stories. It’s definitely very similar situations and it’s an exciting game to be able to play those guys. “We went to a Huron game the first game of the year and it was a mad house.
