Jason Collins, the NBA’s first openly gay player who now serves as an ambassador for the league, is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, his family says.

Established in 1922 Alpha Rho Omega is the first and oldest Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapter, also known as AKA sorority graduate chapter in Michigan. The chapter is made up of 689 college-educated Detroit woman from all backgrounds. The organization has a rich history of philanthropy and has supported and partnered with several community organizations throughout its 100 year history.

Movie reviewer Greg Russell stopped by Live In The D again to catch Jason up on all the biggest films coming out this weekend. Stars Sir Anthony Hopkins, Tom Holland, and Jenifer Garner are all returning to screens with brand new movies. Tom Holland plays the lead character in the film, and sat down with Russell to talk about the role. AdJenifer Garner stars in the last (and most lighthearted) movie on Russell’s list, Yes Day. This Saturday March 13th is 313 Day, the unofficial holiday celebrating the city of Detroit. Today Jason got the chance to chat with Chris Gorski, the owner of Detroit GT, a store where you can find all kinds of arts and apparel themed around the city. He said he grew up in Dearborn Heights and saw the pride people had for the city of Detroit. He said he takes all his inspiration from Detroiters and the city, particularly in the historic buildings, the music, and the automobiles. For today’s Take-out Tuesday, Jason got the chance to talk with the crew at J’s Penalty Box about their loyal following, and some of their specialty dishes. Owner Janice Semma said J’s Penalty Box is a woman-owned sports bar in Ferndale, serving all scratch-made food. Bar Manager Jordan Semma said making it through lockdown was challenging, but they were lucky enough to adapt and keep their staff. “We created new positions to keep everybody still working and with us to help out our community,” Semma said. They say Laughter is magic but so is actual magic, and you can experience both at Genitti’s in Northville this weekend. Live In The D friend Jasen Magic will be performing there this weekend. He joined Tati and Jason from his “parent’s basement” to talk all about his upcoming show this weekend at Genitti’s Dinner Theater, which promises to be an evening of fun and magic in a socially distanced setting. Jasen gave Tati and Jason of preview of what people can expect. Whether it’s for a game or a romantic dinner, there is one food that usually gets everyone to the snack table and that’s cheese! Cheese To Please creates gourmet grazing boards. They are made locally and incorporate other locally made ingredients and products. Owner, Missy Stines joined Jason live to talk about her grazing boards. Today on Live in the D, Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan showed us a quick, easy way to change the look of a room. Now, he’s found a way to design the space without making it look like an afterthought. The main feature of Jordan’s project uses curio frames he says you can find in home decorating stores, or for cheap in thrift stores. After an hour, Tati and Jason checked back in to see the finished project. To change up the look of the space, Jordan said you can throw a few plants into the frames, which also serve as handy shelves.

Alten says that Sea Monster Cove is a new kind of experimental story telling that allows viewers to move around a virtual aquarium and experience the world of the sea creatures. Sea Monster Cove also includes access to books, games, and a web TV series that is set to start next month. One feature of the online experience is a shark cage that viewers can hop into to experience the prehistoric sea creatures face to face. But, for those less interested in the scares, Sea Monster Cove can be tailored to range from PG-13 to PG-17. How well is your pet trained? Anna Chrisman, with the Michigan Humane Society, joined Tati and Jason to explain how you can train any pet. Despite the fact that she can't see, Cheeky is still able to be trained. Chrisman says you should think of training as a bonding experience with your pet rather than a chore. For new pets, training really teaches the pet the rules of the home to make for a smoother transition.

It's Khary's fourth day on the job, and he already gets a break. A WDIV meeting means Jason and Khary have to wrap things up by 9:30, so they talk animals, Jason's haircut and some Photoshop battles.
