13 businesses cited for violating Michiganโs COVID-19 order, state says
LANSING, Mich. โ Michigan health officials have issued citations to 13 businesses due to violations of the COVID-19 order put in place by the Department of Health and Human Services. โWe continue to see improvements in the numbers, and we know that the public health orders we have put in place are working. โThe number of cases, the positivity rate, and hospital capacity have declined in recent weeks, taking stress off our hospitals and health care workers,โ said Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive at MDHHS. โWe will continue to monitor the data and assess for any potential surges in cases after the holidays. Most food service establishments like restaurants and bars have helped play a critical role in the existing decline by following the order.โ
Police: 2 found dead in southeastern Michigan home
SANDUSKY, Mich. โ Authorities in southeastern Michigan are investigating after two people were found dead in their home. The Sanilac County Sheriffโs Department said two people were found shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday in their Sanilac Township home, according to The (Port Huron) Times Herald. Officers found a 53-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman. Authorities said it appears to be an isolated incident and the deaths remain under investigation. Read more: Michigan news
Cedar Point reopens today with changes: What to know
No one couldโve imagined Cedar Point would start its 150th season during a pandemic, thatโs what is happening. The amusement park plans to open its gates Thursday after the COVID-19 health crisis delayed the start of the season. The new normal at Cedar Point will require everyone over the age of two to wear a face mask, even on the rides which the staff has tested. In reality the lines will be shorter since theyโre going to start off by allowing only 20% capacity into the parkโWe know we have enough room for people to spread out,โ said Jason McClure, Cedar Point GM. Adjusting to these new rules will be hard, but theyโve got a team of staff with new roles to enforce these safety guidelines.

SANDUSKY, Ohio โ In partnership with the Autism Society of America, Autism Awareness Week at Cedar Point is this week, and there are new features at the roller coaster park that are safe and friendly toward guests with autism. A new sensory room was added in the park earlier this year, and it is a great place for guests with autism to go during Autism Awareness Week. The room provides a quiet area for families and sensory tools to interact with. Along with the sensory room, other quiet spaces are available. Cedar Point has also provided a list of locations that use strobe lighting and other lighting effects.
