STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Through a partnership with SMART, Macomb County is offering a new vaccination location in Sterling Heights. The vaccination site is at the Sterling Heights Senior Center on Utica Road, between Schoenherr and Van Dyke roads. It’s why the Macomb County Health Department partnered with SMART to help distribute the coronavirus vaccine. Macomb County executive Mark Hackel said the new site is currently dedicated to vaccinating Macomb County residents and workers who are 60-years-old and older. DETROIT – Police are investigating after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in an alley on Detroit’s east side on Nov. 13. (CBS DETROIT) – A 21-year-old in Shelby Township leaving her job at Burger King was hit and killed last Thursday, now police are seeking the public’s help to find the driver responsible. Shelby Township police released a video showing the moment 21-year-old Maya Shaw was fatally struck while crossing the street at 23 Mile and Schoenherr. “October is traditionally, especially over the last five years the most dangerous month for pedestrians versus car accidents,” said Brandon Hewitt Esq., COO Michigan Auto Law. The most cases historically happening during October, designating it National Pedestrian Safety Month by the US Department of Transportation. SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are seeking more information in a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened around 10:20 p.m. Thursday near the 23 Mile and Schoenherr roads intersection. According to police, the 21-year-old female victim was fatally struck in the area by an unknown vehicle. DETROIT – A driver struck a pedestrian in Detroit and fled the scene Nov. 27, police said. The victim was crossing the street at E. 7 Mile and Schoenherr roads just before 1 a.m. when they were hit by a light-colored Chevrolet Suburban SUV. The Suburban is believed to be a 2000-2005 model. The vehicle had chrome mirror covers. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
