Ann Arbor tech startup creates immersive digital experiences
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A young technology startup in Ann Arbor is bringing online marketing and browsing into the three-dimensional world. Founded in 2017 by software entrepreneur Donald Hicks, Saganworks is using new 3D media to create a more immersive experience for audiences online. Called a Sagan, short for Spatially Accessible Gallery of Archived Knowledge, the software allows users, including retailers, restaurants and organizations, to provide visually organized content and display products in 3D. The immersive digital rooms can be embedded into websites, landing pages or blogs, according to a release. ANN ARBOR — Ann Arbor’s Blue LLama Jazz Club, 314 S. Main St., announced Monday that it is pausing its operations for the time being. Blue LLama, which pivoted its business model early on in the coronavirus pandemic and has been managing pop-up shops — Blue LLama Express, Jibarito, Of Rice and Men and Chef Ava’s Bakery — will be closed for the foreseeable future, senior management said in a post to Facebook. “We’re writing to let you know that the Blue LLama Jazz Club, Jibarito and Of Rice & Men Modern Asian Bistro have decided to take a break for a few months. Ann Arbors Blue LLama Jazz Club to host Immigration Nation benefit event
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Blue LLama Jazz Club in downtown Ann Arbor is celebrating the rich immigrant history of the U.S. with trumpeter Charlie Porter and Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County. On Saturday, Sept. 5, the jazz club will offer a free music improvisation workshop with Porter and an afternoon of talks and speeches from community leaders. Ticketed shows by the Charlie Porter Quintet, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., will round out the evening. Donations will benefit Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County, a private nonprofit social services agency that has served the Ann Arbor community since 1993. Of Rice & Men pop-up restaurant opens for dine-in services in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR, Mich. Originally offered as a carryout concept by Blue LLama Jazz Club, Of Rice & Men is getting its own space in downtown Ann Arbor. On July 24, the new pop-up restaurant will open the doors to its South Main Street location for dine-in services. Inspired by Asian flavors and cooking techniques, the Of Rice & Men menu offers a variety of dishes influenced by different countries including China, Thailand, Japan and Indonesia. Lead by Executive Chef Josh Wetshtein, who has worked under Wolfgang Puck, the pop-up restaurant also offers a different dining experience. Of Rice & Men is at 312 S.
