Monday is one of the biggest events in Detroit with the Ford Fireworks show, and the 4th of July is the weekend right after, so lets get ready for some fun. Today on “Live In The D” Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan got everyone ready to showcase their red, white, and blue in a fashionable way. Let’s span our horizons and avoid looking like Uncle Sam! Where you can find everything you need to rep Detroit for 313 day
This Saturday March 13th is 313 Day, the unofficial holiday celebrating the city of Detroit. Today Jason got the chance to chat with Chris Gorski, the owner of Detroit GT, a store where you can find all kinds of arts and apparel themed around the city. He said he grew up in Dearborn Heights and saw the pride people had for the city of Detroit. He said he takes all his inspiration from Detroiters and the city, particularly in the historic buildings, the music, and the automobiles. Busted Bra Shop brings inclusive sizing to Ann Arbor with new location
The newest Busted Bra Shop is at 3362 Washtenaw Avenue in Ann Arbor, Michigan. ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Having quietly opened the doors to its new Ann Arbor location in late 2020, Busted Bra Shop offers community members something that big-name chain stores can’t; inclusive sizes. Padgett said that Busted Bra Shop customers, many of whom live between Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo, have been asking for a closer location. A local fashion landmark that has dressed stars like LL, Ice Cube, Eric B, Diddy and Jay Z is hoping to help find you your next outfit. Owner Kathy Hamlin-Gaye spoke with Jason Carr from her store on West 7 Mile Road. She says Strictly Sportswear is a family business that has been serving Detroit for more than 30 years. Are your favorite clothes showing some wear? Try this!
As you start pulling out your cold weather clothes you may notice that some of your coats or sweaters have little clusters of fabric, or pilling, on them. There are ways you can get rid of those pesky pills with a few handy items. Kila Peeples tried two ways; one was using a gadget she purchased on Amazon, and the other was using a disposable razor. Jason Carr also showed his handy Conair Fabric Shaver that he uses on his favorite knit sweater. Watch the video above to see how well they worked!
Go shopping in your own closet
Before buying clothes on your favorite website try going shopping in your closet. Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan suggests creating new outfits out of the clothes you already have. You may have to try mixing and matching to create something new, but it could become one of your most fashionable looks. Jon also suggests mixing patterns, even if theyre the same color scheme, to come up with a bold new outfit.
