DETROIT A womans body was found Tuesday in the trunk of a burning car on Detroits west side, police said. Detroit firefighters were called around 7:30 a.m. to the area of Woodmont Avenue and Ellis Street, according to authorities. They found a silver four-door Saturn that had been set on fire, officials said. Firefighters said they found a body in the car, so police were called to the scene. Officers said the woman was in the trunk.

DETROIT Every year, the Detroit Public Safety Foundation holds an event to honor female first responders. This year, the event was forced outside at the last minute, but authorities still found a way to honor 10 police officers, firefighters and EMS workers who are now public role models. DETROIT Local 4 spoke exclusively to a Detroit homeowner who is suing firefighters for taking a viral photo in front of his burning home on New Years Eve. When Detroit firefighters took a photo in front of Deonte Higginbothams burning house, it went viral. Higginbothams attorney, Steve Haney, told Local 4 that talks with the department and city officials have gone nowhere. On Tuesday, Higginbotham and Haney filed a negligence lawsuit against the city, the Detroit Fire Department and all the firefighters in the photo. Its a really horrible look for the city of Detroit, Haney said.

DETROIT Police are questioning two men about a house fire early Wednesday morning on Detroits east side. Neighbors were startled out of their sleep to the sounds of a house explosion. Police say the suspects were arrested on unrelated warrants but theyre still being questioned. Neighbors claim to have heard gunshots before the explosion and saw a person fleeing the scene after the explosion. Police said the next step is identifying the bodies and finding out how they died before they can potentially press charges on the men taken into custody.

Officials with Detroit Dog Rescue said they rescued the dog around 7 a.m. Thursday after firefighters at Engine House No. "We're seeing so many neglect cases and really need some help," Detroit Dog Rescue posted on Facebook.
