Police seek 4 in connection with violent carjacking on Detroitโs west side
DETROIT โ Police are looking for public assistance in identifying four people wanted in connection with a March 3 assault and carjacking on Detroitโs west side. As the victim followed her two men exit the Honda, assault the man and take his car keys. Police said the woman entered the Honda and one of the suspects enters for Ford and both vehicles fled the scene. Large dogs escape yard, attack man taking walk on Detroitโs west side
DETROIT โ A 62-year-old man was mauled by four large dogs Friday morning as he was taking a walk on Detroitโs west side. Police said it happened at about 9:30 a.m. on Fullerton Avenue, between Linwood Street and Dexter Avenue, when four large dogs left their yard and began biting the victim on his legs, shoulder and ear. A neighbor was able to distract the dogs and get them away from the man. The dogs have been taken away by Detroit Animal Control. The man was rushed to a hospital where he was listed in temporary serious condition.
Vacant Detroit building set to be transformed into business incubator
DETROIT โ It may look like any old vacant building in Detroit, but for a group dedicated to helping others, all they see is an opportunity. โThe Ground Up Project is a revitalization effort for the city of Detroit. Weโre going to be empowering entrepreneurs to own and operate their own businesses,โ said Dexter Sullivan, who is with the Ground Up Project. Tiffany Johnson, the program manager with The Ground Up Project, said theyโll learn life skills as well. โIntegrating life skills and also communication skills, coping skills, mental health capacities and so on, just to ensure that every person is fully equipped,โ Johnson said.
Detroit police seek man who escaped from police car following arrest
DETROIT โ Police are seeking a man who escaped from the back of a Detroit police vehicle after being detained on Wednesday afternoon. Detroit police say they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for not having a license plate on Wednesday. Police then arrested the man and woman in the vehicle for carrying a concealed weapon in a motor vehicle. Police say the man was placed into the back of a marked police vehicle while officers detained the woman outside of the vehicle. The man escaped from the back of the police vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Linwood and Davison streets.
Detroit police seek missing 64-year-old man last seen Friday
DETROIT โ Police are looking for Larry Sawyer, a 64-year-old man who was last seen Friday. According to authorities, he was last seen walking to a corner store at the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and Linwood Street, a few blocks south of the Davison Freeway. Sawyer wears glasses and has โLarryโ tattooed on his right forearm. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue jacket, black pants and black shoes. Detroit police searching for 2 men in non-fatal shooting on Linwood Street
DETROIT โ Police are searching for 2 men in connection with a non-fatal shooting on Detroitโs west side. Detroit police said at about 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, a 26-year-old man went to a gas station in the 9100 block of Linwood Street and had exchanged words with two men. Police said the man suspected of firing the shot is described as a Black man, between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 140 pounds. The second man, who police said was the driver and is a person of interest, is described as a Black man, between 5 feet 5 inches tall and 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was seen wearing black hat, puffer coat, pants and boots.

According to authorities, at about 1 a.m., a 42-year-old man had an altercation with a 38-year-old man in the 15700 block of St. Marys Street, between Puritan and Fenkell avenues. The 38-year-old make was taken into police custody shortly after, near the intersection of Pasadena and Linwood streets, south of Oakman Boulevard. Detroit police rush gunshot victim to hospital
DETROIT - Police put a gunshot victim in a police cruiser and rushed him to a hospital before 10:50 p.m. Tuesday. The shooting happened in the area of Fullerton Avenue and Linwood Street.
