Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers has voted to certify the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election results. With all 83 counties having already voted to certify their results, the Board of State Canvassers had what was called a “ministerial” duty to certify the results at the state level. In fact, state law requires the Board of Canvassers to do such within 40 days after the election. The vote to certify Michigan’s election results officially awards the state’s 16 electoral votes to Joe Biden in the presidential election. Board member Norman D. Shinkle (R) abstained from voting after questioning the balance of votes in certain precincts, specifically in Detroit.

The state of Michigan’s Board of State Canvassers is scheduled to vote on certifying the Nov. 3, 2020 General Election results on Monday. With all 83 counties having already voted to certify their results, the Board of State Canvassers is scheduled to meet to canvass the November general election at 1 p.m. Monday. The board is expected to vote on certifying the results during this meeting. The meeting will be open to the public. DETROIT – Follow up-to-the-minute election updates from WDIV Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit right here. As of this weekend, more than 2.6 million Michigan voters had turned in their absentee ballots. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is urging voters to drop off their ballots in-person to ensure mail delays don’t cause their ballots to not be counted, though voting in-person on Election Day remains an option. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19 -- and now many who have been near the president are being tested. Trump is experiencing “mild symptoms” of COVID-19. Officials with the White House Medical Unit were still in the process of tracing the president’s contacts, the official said. DETROIT – High winds were howling in Southeast Michigan on Monday -- and it meant power outages in some areas. DTE Energy says they’re preparing for possible outages in the area on Monday, with extra crews on standby. Tracking DTE Energy power outages in Southeast Michigan:As of 11:17 p.m., 481 customers were without power. DTE reported 101 crews in the field. Remember a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms. Interior room at the lowest level is the safest place you could be during a severe weather event.
