One winning ticket was sold in Michigan for the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot, making it the third-largest lottery prize in U.S. history. According to the Michigan Lottery, the winning ticket was bought at Kroger located at 47650 Grand River Avenue in Novi. Local 4′s Priya Mann was live at the Kroger in Novi Saturday morning where one winning ticket was sold. The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 546,468 as of Friday, including 14,070 deaths, state officials report. Winning ticket of $1 billion Mega Millions lottery sold at Kroger in Novi

DETROIT – Local 4′s Priya Mann was live at the Kroger in Novi Saturday morning where one winning ticket was sold for the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot, making it the third-largest lottery prize in US history. The winning numbers drawn Friday are: 4, 26, 42, 50, 60 and a Mega Ball of 24. In a release issued Saturday the Michigan Lottery stated it will not know the identity of the winner until that person contacts the Lottery. The Kroger store is located at 47650 Grand River Avenue in Novi, according to the Michigan Lottery. Southwest Detroit family concerned for its safety after shooting outside home

DETROIT – A family in southwest Detroit was fast asleep when someone opened fire outside their home. “They almost got my daughter two feet from her head with a bullet,” said Juan Navarro, whose house was shot up. The shooting happened early Saturday morning at Green and Lafayette in Southwest Detroit. This was really random, don’t know who did it,” said Navarro. The Navarro family considered moving before and this random shooting has them concerned next time it might be worse.

Canton teen miraculously survives brain aneurysm with mother at her side

DETROIT – Doctors told a Metro Detroit mother that her daughter would likely die after blood vessels in the teen’s brain suddenly ruptured. Despite the odds, the teen miraculously survived. With her daughter on the brink of death the mother sold her salon to be by the teen’s side. I really, I’m just happy,” said Tiffany Bernard, whose daughter managed to survive the brain aneurysm. Doctors stated her daughter had likely suffered a brain aneurysm and would not survive.

Michigan health officials sound alarm on COVID-19 as cases surge

DETROIT – Some of the state’s top health officials are warning people about the threat of the coronavirus as cases continue surging. It marked the state’s highest single day increase in COVID-19 cases. The number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has risen to 161,907 as of Monday, including 7,211 deaths, state officials report. While Michigan was able to flatten the curve initially, hospitals have been preparing for a second surge. But officials warn this time around hospitals will not likely be able to focus solely on COVID-19 patients.

Grant Hermes makes debut as morning weekend anchor for Local 4 News

DETROIT – Today was Grant Hermes first day as a weekend morning news anchor for Local 4 News. He will join co-anchor Priya Mann and meteorologist Andrew Humphrey and continue to report for various other newscasts during the week. We captured a few highlights from this morning’s newscast. Hermes joined WDIV-Local 4 in April after five years at KWTV in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he was morning anchor and reporter. You can watch the newscast in the video player above.

Grant Hermes is the new anchor of the Saturday and Sunday Local 4 News Today newscasts. He will join co-anchor Priya Mann and meteorologist Andrew Humphrey and will continue to report for various other newscasts during the week. Grant joined WDIV-Local 4 in April after five years at KWTV in Oklahoma City where he was morning anchor and reporter. He’s covered major events like the 2010 and 2018 teachers’ strikes in Wisconsin and Oklahoma, the 2015 biker shooting in Waco, TX and multiple deadly tornados.
