AdFinally, do you watch the award shows? Hearn says she turns on the award shows to see the fashion. Now Russell, as a movie reviewer, Greg does follow the award shows and says sometimes they get it right, and other times not so much. He noted that often, whatever gets named in the first award show often gets mentions in all the following award shows, and that is not always for the best. So why do you watch award shows?

Viola Davis talks about working with Chadwick Boseman for the last time

The first film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, is one that Russell says is sure to secure plenty of nominations this awards season. In the movie, Viola Davis plays Ma Rainey, a real blues singer from the turn of the 20th century. The late Chadwick Boseman stars alongside Davis as a strong-willed member of her band. Davis talked about how playwright August Wilson would often play with the idea of two characters representing the material and spiritual world, and how it’s always the spiritual world that wins out. You’ll recognize the actors in these new movies this weekend

Time for the weekend which means new movies! Jason Carr sat down with movie reviewer Greg Russell to talke about all about what you can watch this weekend. Greg gave the film 4 out of 5 reels. Ryan Hansen gets in a sticky mess when he goes to Thanksgiving dinner at an ex’s house while on a date with her mom. Greg recommends watching this once the family has left after Thanksgiving dinner and everyone wants to unwind.

On the search for stars while they film a movie in the D

There is a new feature film being made here in Detroit! No one is more excited than Kila Peeples, who is on a mission to see some of the stars of this movie. She explained some of the highlights about the movie, and how some local businesses are helping to welcome the cast and crew to the D. The film is called No Sudden Move, it stars Don Cheadle, Jon Hamm, David Harbour of Stranger Things fame, and many more famous actors. Kila spoke to Megan Lewis from DeVries & Company in Eastern Market and Tara Grey, owner of Gus and Grey Handcrafted Delights, who are creating baskets of artisans foods to welcome the stars. Hungry for entertainment? Drive-in film festival to be hosted at Emagine Novi

The Royal Starr Arts Institute, a nonprofit arts organization, will be hosting its annual film festival, giving a platform to independent filmmakers from all over Michigan, The United States and abroad. While theatres are temporarily closed, the annual festival will be held virtually, with limited drive-in screenings. The Royal Starr Film Festival will be held from Thursday-Sunday at Emagine Theatre in Novi, located at 44425 West 12 Mile Road. Launching in U.S. theaters, 'Tenet' tallies $20.2 million

NEW YORK In a litmus test for American moviegoing in the pandemic, Christopher Nolan's Tenet brought in an estimated $20.2 million through the holiday weekend in U.S. and Canadian theaters. Theaters in Canada, where COVID-19 cases are much lower than in the U.S., began showing Tenet a week earlier. In two weeks of release, its overseas total is $126 million, with a global tally thus far of $146.2 million. The film, which cost $200 million to make and at least $100 million to market, will need to get close to $500 million to break even. Disney's The New Mutants," a long delayed X-Men spinoff, collected about $7 million in 2,412 locations last weekend.
