City of Ann Arbor to open all three outdoor pools this summer
ANN ARBOR – The outdoor public pools at Fuller Park, Buhr Park and Veterans Memorial Park will be open this summer, the city of Ann Arbor announced in an email to its pool users on Tuesday. The city opened Fuller Park pool last summer at a very limited capacity for lap swimming to ensure social distancing while the Buhr and Vets pools remained closed. In order to provide safe programming this year, swim lessons and day camps will take place at designated pools. All three pools will be offering family spaces and lap lanes by reservation as well as bungee swimming opportunities at Fuller and Buhr. Germany toughens punishment for child sex abuse, child porn

The government initiated the bill in the wake of prominent recent child abuse cases in Germany that feature large numbers of suspects. It uses the term “sexualized violence against children” instead of the current “sexual abuse” and raises the potential sentence to between one and 15 years in prison. And in the future, the statute of limitations will only fall on the production of child pornography when the victim turns 30. It foresees special qualification requirements for judges handling child abuse issues.
Ann Arbor’s Fuller Park Pool to close on Sunday after unprecedented season
ANN ARBOR – For many residents, Fuller Park Pool’s reopening this summer restored a sense of normalcy and seasonal tradition, though things felt very different due to the coronavirus pandemic. To do this, they created a brand-new reservation system for the pool’s very limited lane supply and reconfigured its deck, and it didn’t come without its challenges. From painting the pool deck to indicate family and lap reservation spaces to safety protocols, she feels her team created a safe environment for guests. NBA releases testing results, no players confirmed positive
The league released its latest results Wednesday for coronavirus tests performed on players participating in the restarted season at Walt Disney World, and the numbers are still perfect. Of the 343 players tested since results were last announced July 29, none has been confirmed positive. That means no player has tested positive since entering the so-called bubble last month. There were two players who tested positive on arrival at Disney, with neither of those making it out of quarantine and potentially exposing anyone inside the bubble. I think not only has the league, but I think the players and everyone, theyve followed through.
Family member saves 5-year-old boy from drowning at Pontiac hotel
PONTIAC, Mich. A family member helped save a young boy from drowning while at a hotel in Pontiac on Friday night. Police say the 5-year-old boy from Detroit was playing with other children at a Marriott Hotel when a family member noticed he had gone under water. The child was submerged in about four feet of water, officials said. A family member pulled the boy from the water and administered CPR right away, police said. The boy was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Pool safety:The risk of coronavirus at the pool isnt from the water, its from the people. The less people at the pool, the less risk of virus. The CDC says the coronavirus will not survive in a well-kept pool. The virus can survive on surfaces, so pool staff should be cleaning surfaces often -- gates, chairs, etc. Sunlight will kill the virus on playground surfaces, but take along hand sanitizer, too.
