Japanese sushi, steakhouse taking over former Osteria Rossa space in Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A West Michigan Japanese restaurant is expanding to downtown Grand Rapids in the former Osteria Rossa space. Nagoya Hibachi Steak House and Sushi is expected to open later this fall at 16 Monroe Center St. NE, across from Monument Park. The Japanese restaurant already has a location in Kentwood, at 2915 28th St. Cuisine at the Kentwood location includes sushi, poke bowls, tempura, hibachi, Japanese sodas and desserts. Italian restaurant Osteria Rossa opened in Grand Rapids in 2014 and closed at the end of last year due to “unforeseen times,” according to a Facebook post from chef and owner Chris Perkey.

Fire damages Mt. Pleasant sushi restaurant during Fourth of July weekend
PLEASANT, MI - Crews responded to a restaurant fire over the holiday weekend in Mt. Pleasant Fire Department (MPFD) responded to a structure fire at Kuji Hibachi and Sushi, 5768 E. Pickard Rd. Upon arrival crews observed smoke and flames emerging from the back of the structure, according to a post from the city of Mt. The restaurant was open at the time of the fire and all staff and customers were evacuated safely. The building sustained moderate smoke damage and light structural damage to the rear corner and roof, said the city.

Try this sushi and beer happy hour at a surprising place
Ready for a new type of happy hour in Metro Detroit? Host Tati Amare chatted with Chef Derek Layson and John Golaszewski with Hissho Sushi about their new kind of happy hour that’s changing the grocery shopping game in Metro Detroit.
