Saturday (March 26) morning, Jason Colthorp received a text from homeowner Petrice Miller-Orear. The text said that the rep from the management company that owns the house next door was now saying permission is not granted, and we were back at square one, so Colthorp got involved once again Monday.
Eastpointe family left without running water for three weeks
It started with sewer water backing up into the basement that made life awful for a family in Eastpointe. Turns out that they had a broken pipe in the yard, which a contractor started to fix this week. Itโs now been three weeks without water, and things have only gotten worse.

One woman was sitting on her porch to have a cigarette before bed when the shots were fired. โI was just sitting there and I heard a car coming towards me and the shot started going. My heart was pounding for a good hour and a half afterwards.โThe womanโs doorbell camera was recording as shots were fired between two cars driving through the quiet neighborhood. And when the second, third and fourth shot went off, thatโs when I realized it was gunfire and how close it was,โ she said.

EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ A man was injured in a shooting in Eastpointe Wednesday afternoon. The shooting happened at a home on Veronica Avenue in the area of Kelly and East Eight Mile roads. Witnesses said the shooting happened during an argument between two men. The victim was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.

30-year-old man stabbed multiple times in Eastpointe
EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ A 30-year-old man was stabbed multiple times on Saturday at around 2:40 p.m. in the 24000 block of Schroeder in Eastpointe. The victim was hospitalized and his condition is unknown. Police say the victim and attacker both knew each other. Authorities are still collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Eastpointe man builds bomb to try to kill rats, damages 2 houses instead
EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ An Eastpointe man built a homemade bomb to try to kill rats at his home, but instead, he damaged two houses and got arrested, police said. Eastpointe police were called around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 16800 block of Veronica Avenue. Investigators said a homeowner found what he believed was a better way to kill rats than using poison. The homeowner had constructed a homemade bomb to try to kill the rats, according to authorities. โOfficers did not find any dead rats at the scene, so bombing may be an ineffective way to kills rats,โ Eastpointe police posted on Facebook.

EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ A man told an Eastpointe Family Dollar cashier he was armed when he robbed the store Monday morning. Police said the man entered the store at 18040 9 Mile Road at 9:15 a.m. He told the cashier he had a gun and kept his hand in his pocket as he demanded cash, police said. When the cashier handed the man money, he fled in an unknown direction. He was wearing a zip-up black hoodie, black pants, black shoes and dark-colored glasses.
Teens facing felony charges after trashing Eastpointe church, police say
EASTPOINTE, Mich. โ A church in Eastpointe is in need of major repair work, and three teenagers are facing felony charges in connection with the vandalism. Two of the charged teens are just 13 years old. Lt. Dave Ernatt, with Eastpointe Police, said that from there, the teens ransacked the kitchen and knocked over some boxes of food. Two 13 year old teens were arrested at the scene. โBreaking and entering of a building to commit a crime and commit damage, thatโs a felony charge."
