Americans around the country are coming together in celebration Saturday after Joe Biden was declared the projected president-elect earlier that day. As of Saturday morning, The Associated Press is projecting that Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has won the 2020 presidential election after wining the state of Pennsylvania. Biden, resting at 264 electoral votes early Friday morning, was projected to win the state of Pennsylvania as of 11:25 a.m., according to The AP. With its 20 electoral votes up for grabs, Pennsylvania placed Biden at 284 electoral votes -- enough to call the race nearly four days after Election Day. The AP also projected that Biden won the state of Nevada on Saturday, bringing his electoral vote total to 290.
Metro Detroit couple celebrates 70 years of marriage and more
DETROIT – Sam and Faith Strong will celebrate 70 years of marriage next month and while COVID-19 prevented them from holding a party, they still found ways to celebrate. Detroit fire sergeant who died rescuing girls from drowning honored Monday
DETROIT A celebration of life service will be held Monday for Detroit Fire Sergeant Sivad Johnson in front of Detroit Public Safety Headquarters. At the same time, the Detroit Fire Department shall place all apparatus on ramps with lights on in honor of Johnson. Johnson was a 26-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Departments Fire Engine 59 and a recipient of the 2017 Medal of Valor. Johnson died after rescuing young girls from drowning in the Detroit River at Belle Isle. Due to the pandemic, the celebration at Detroit Public Safety Headquarters will be invitation only, but the service will be live streamed.
COVID-19 survivor gets married to partner of 5 years at Beaumont Royal Oak
ROYAL OAK, Mich. An EMT who was hospitalized for coronavirus (COVID-19) is getting married to his special lady at Beaumont Royal Oak on Friday. READ: Beaumont doctor recovering from COVID-19 hopes people take this pandemic seriouslyOfficials said normal medications didnt work for him. The EMT refers to his partner as his special lady. She wasnt allowed to visit him while he was being treated but she did everything to stay connected. The couple was married Friday afternoon in a conference room in the same nursing unit where he survived. He said he never felt the need to be married, but after everything theyd been through taking this next step felt right.
Detroit businesses celebrate Juneteenth, give back to their communities,
DETROIT Friday is Juneteenth, a day dedicated to freedom, and many cities across the country are stopping to celebrate -- including Detroit. Nailah Ellis-Brown shut down the Ellis Island Tea facility on Juneteenth to give her Detroit staff the day off to spend with their families. Ellis Island Tea is a family affair that began with Ellis-Browns great grandfathers tea recipe. She said she wants to give her staff Juneteenth off every year. April Anderson said she wanted to use her platform to raise awareness about Juneteenth and help local nonprofits.

Then were going to end the week with a celebration here in Spirit Plaza -- a Juneteenth rally, Dean said. We had some folks that reached out really wanting to paint a message of strength and resilience on Woodward Avenue, Dean said.
A celebration of fake books
A first-of-its-kind exhibit in New York City is drawing crowds of book enthusiasts. Ironically, none of the books featured are real. People who judge these so-called "Blooks" by their covers will have a surprise in store when they discover what's inside these rare, novelty items. Lee Cowan reports.
