The comments came as Sprecher sought to clarify ICE's discussions with eBay. ICE operates exchanges for commodity and financial markets, including the New York Stock Exchange. ICE ETF Hub a 'highway' for modernizing ETFs: BlackRock

BlackRock and NYSE owner ICE are looking to improve efficiency in the ETF market with their new ETF Hub as the industry continues to boom. The hub's key features, according to the ICE ETF Hub website, include processes to streamline ETF order entries, consolidate issuer data and provide the analytic tools needed while also facilitating fixed income ETF trading. The latter has been a focus of BlackRock's Samara Cohen, co-head of iShares Markets and Investments at Blackrock, given the surge in bond ETF trading. In fact, over half of net ETF inflows have gone to bond ETFs in 2019. This is particularly relevant given that bond ETF trading, unlike for many ETF groups, has yet to be electronified, another goal Cohen has for the Hub.

Intercontinental Exchange overhauls ETF issuing process

That is the central goal behind the Intercontinental Exchange's recently rolled-out "Hub" for exchange-traded funds, a joint effort by the New York Stock Exchange parent and ETF issuers like BlackRock meant to streamline the often complex, decentralized process of bringing ETFs to market, ICE President Ben Jackson tells CNBC's "ETF Edge." The ICE ETF Hub, which launched in October, is an attempt to simplify the ETF issuing process for these industry players by offering what it calls key "efficiencies" such as messaging, order management and analytics. "There's a whole negotiation process between the issuers and the banks around, 'What is going to be an acceptable sample for that bank to trade of securities in lieu for a share of the ETF?' So, what we're doing is really lubricating that process," Jackson said. Given that performance during a holiday week, Jackson anticipated even more engagement in the new year as ICE builds out the hub's capabilities.

U.S. immigration authorities on Wednesday rounded up hundreds of undocumented workers in food processing plants during a sprawling operation in Mississippi that officials touted as the largest immigration enforcement sweep in a single state in U.S. history. By targeting workplaces across six different cities in southern Mississippi, Immigration and Customs and Enforcement (ICE) agents, with the help of the local district attorney's office, apprehended approximately 680 undocumented immigrants. At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi Mike Hurst said the large-scale raids collectively represented "the largest single state immigration enforcement operation in our nation's history." Peco Foods, a poultry processing and packaging company, confirmed that ICE conducted operations at three of its facilities in southern Mississippi. We know from past immigration enforcement actions of this type, that there are going to be children who go home tonight and their parents will be gone," Solrzano told CBS News.
