Two men were discovered hiding in separate Detroit garages after they forced their way into a pharmacy, stole thousands of dollars’ worth of medicine, and crashed at the end of a high-speed police chase, officials said.

CVS Pharmacy to offer COVID vaccine when available
CVS Pharmacy said it has been selected as one of the official “COVID-19 Vaccination Program Providers” and will be able to offer it at its pharmacies when it’s available. “CVS Health® has entered into a contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We were selected as one of the official COVID-19 Vaccination Program Providers,” reads a statement from CVS Pharmacy. “The United States government will make a supply of the COVID-19 vaccine available to CVS Health when authorized and available to administer in pharmacies nationwide. Federal authorities bust crew accused in string of Metro Detroit pharmacy break-ins
DETROIT Criminals were breaking into Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registered pharmacies to steal narcotics and sell them on the street. Local 4 Defenders obtained surveillance video from the Crownz Pharmacy in Warren from the early morning hours in June. The Warren pharmacy break in was a part of a string of burglaries committed by a group of individuals working together. The Pharmor Pharmacy on Woodward in Detroit was also targeted, according to the complaint. Hamilton is scheduled to go to trial on Sept. 8 in federal court in Detroit.

CVS posts strong 2Q, with virus delaying elective procedures

For the three months ended June 30, CVS earned $2.99 billion, or $2.26 per share. Adjusted for one-time gains and costs, earnings were $2.64 per share. CVS said Wednesday that the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in lower benefit costs due to the deferral of elective procedures and other discretionary use of its health care benefits segment.

Gretchen Whitmer signed Executive Order 2020-152, which extends a provision on an earlier order on pharmacies that allows student pharmacists to continue training under remote supervision. It allows preceptors to supervise student pharmacists remotely to fulfill eligibility for licensure and avoid delaying graduation.

Hamtramck police seek man wanted for robbing pharmacy of prescription pills
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. Hamtramck police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a pharmacy robbery that happened Wednesday afternoon. On Wednesday at 1:56 p.m. the robber entered the Hamtramck pharmacy and requested a prescription. While at the counter, the robber pulled out a black handgun, and pointed it at the workers behind the counter demanding several narcotics not prescribed to him. He is described as a heavyset black man, with black hair, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamtramck Police Department at 313-800-5281.

Kroger stores adjust pharmacy, Easter hours amid pandemic
NOVI, Mich. – Kroger announced Tuesday that Michigan stores are adjusting their pharmacy hours amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Pharmacies will reduce operating hours in an effort to encourage customers to consolidate shopping trips and take advantage of Kroger’s pick up and delivery services, officials said. Beginning Wednesday, Kroger pharmacy locations will now be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. “An adjustment in hours will provide our associates more time to rest and be with their families.”Michigan Kroger stores are also offering certain hours of shopping dedicated to at risk communities. Senior shoppers, expectant mothers, first responders and those with compromised immune systems can shop from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
