Wayne State University to begin Winter 2022 semester with online courses
Wayne State University announced Thursday that classes for the Winter 2022 semester will begin online. The announcement comes as the school begins holiday break and cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, largely due to the omicron variant.

DETROIT Wayne State University is set to announce Wednesday exact plans for the fall semester. The university is one of the last such schools to announce return plans amid the coronavirus pandemic. If youre in a closed environment, in any of our buildings, youre going to have to a wear a mask, period.Heres what else we know:There will be in-person, online and remote classes. Students will have to take a mandatory campus health and safety online course. There are students returning to Wayne State from all over the country and world.

DETROIT Wayne State University (WSU) released its plan for the upcoming fall semester amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Officials say face masks would have been required for the fall semester regardless of Michigan Gov. Libraries will only be open to WSU students, staff and faculty, officials said. Michigan universities trying to prevent deportation of international students
DETROIT Wayne State and Oakland University will join the likes of Harvard, MIT and the University of Michigan in a fight to keep international students from being deported. The White House said if colleges dont reopen, international students will have to finish their studies online from their home countries. Rather than letting their international students be deported if schools to go a 100 percent online learning model -- they are figuring out how to make courses with the minimum bar of accommodation to keep those students visas safe. Yue Zhuo, an international student from China, left her home country to become an educator at Oakland University. She wouldnt be able to go back to China to continue her work online because of government censorship.

Man threatens to shoot 200 officers during call with former Wayne State classmate, police say
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - Macomb County officials arrested a man who, during a phone conversation with a former Wayne State classmate he hadn't spoken to for more than a year, threatened to poison police and shoot 200 officers, authorities said. Cory Fraser, 30, is accused of making the threats Monday while speaking to a woman he went to class with at Wayne State University. Fraser told the woman he was mad about the recent shooting in Philadelphia because the shooter only hurt six police officers, according to officials. He then said he was going to shoot 200 police officers, according to authorities. Fraser was arrested around 8 p.m. Wednesday by a task force made up of Wayne State and St. Clair Shores police.

A new New American spot has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Babo, the new arrival is located at 15 E. Kirby St., Suite 115 in Wayne State. With a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, Babo seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Steven H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on July 23, wrote, "I had the Diego skillet, creme brle, chips and guacamole. Yelper Josy R. added, "I ordered the ribeye steak and my husband ordered the salmon.
