Man arrested for murder in death of Port Huron resident
PORT HURON, MI - A 27-year-old Port Huron Township man has been arrested on a murder charge in connection with the death of a 35-year-old woman found dead Saturday after reports of a house fire, according to a news release from the Port Huron Police Department. The man, who was dating the victim, was taken to the Port Huron Police Department, interviewed, and then lodged in the St. Clair County Intervention Center on a murder charge, according to the release. Port Huron Police and Port Huron Fire found the victim around 8 a.m. Saturday while responding to reports of a fire at the 1800 block of Division Street. The victim’s name will not be released until an autopsy is finished and she is positively identified, according to the release. PORT HURON, Mich. – Police are investigating an animal cruelty and hoarding situation in Port Huron. When officers arrived they found a 53-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man living in deplorable conditions. On Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. police and animal control officers searched the home. Two 21-year-old men charged after stabbing in Port Huron
PORT HURON, Mich. – Two 21-year-old men have been charged after an argument over a vehicle led to the stabbing of a 37-year-old man in Port Huron, officials said. Port Huron police said a 37-year-old Burtchville Township man arrived at the Lake Huron Medical Center at 8:11 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 24). He told police that he had gotten into an argument with Devin Michael Convery, 21, of Port Huron, in the 1600 block of Jay Street, according to authorities. Convery’s friend, Joshua Davis Schreibman, 21, from Madison Heights, got involved in the argument and stabbed the 37-year-old man multiple times, police said. He was arrested there by officers from the Madison Heights Police Department and transported to the St. Clair County Intervention Center, officials said.
Bomb threat unfounded at Port Huron-area restaurant, police say
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MI – A bomb threat over the weekend toward a Port Huron-area fast food restaurant was determined by law enforcement officials to be unfounded. The employee had received a call informing them that there was a bomb in the restaurant, according to a statement issued by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. The restaurant was immediately evacuated and searched with assistance from the Port Huron Police Department’s K9 unit. The Port Huron Township Fire Department also provided assistance to deputies. 2 arraigned after Port Huron teen robbed, assaulted
PORT HURON, Mich. – Police are investigating after a 17-year-old man was assaulted and robbed. The 17-year-old Port Huron resident was on 14th Street and Bancroft Street waiting for a ride from an acquaintance. Later the same day, Damarion Lucious Taylor, 17, from Port Huron turned himself in at the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. 4 Detroit men arrested, charged in title company scam
PORT HURON, Mich. – Four Detroit men were arrested in Port Huron after police say they were involved in a fraudulent check scam at a title company. Port Huron police responded to a complaint on Aug. 17 at the Transnation Title Agency on Huron Avenue. Police believe they were also involved in a similar scam at a title company in Fort Gratiot and other locations throughout Michigan. All four men were charged and arraigned Wednesday with conducting a criminal enterprise and conspiracy to commit a criminal enterprise. 2 Detroiters wanted in connection with homicide arrested in Port Huron
PORT HURON, Mich. – Two people from Detroit who are wanted in connection with a homicide were arrested in the Port Huron area Thursday. The Detroit Police Department requested assistance from the Port Huron Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit in locating the two suspects who were believed to be in Port Huron. The two people were arrested without incident and turned over to Detroit police, officials said. The police departments also completed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Nern Street in Port Huron.
2 Port Huron stores sell alcohol to underage police decoys during sting involving 30 businesses
PORT HURON, Mich. – A party store and a gas station in Port Huron were caught selling alcohol to underage police decoys during a sting involving 30 businesses, officials said. Port Huron officers conducted the sting Monday, checking 30 businesses for compliance focused on the underage sale of alcohol, according to authorities. Police said underage decoys were sent into retail stores licensed by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to sell alcohol. Officials found 28 businesses were in compliance by refusing to sell alcohol to the underage decoys. Port Huron police said all licensed businesses should check IDs to prevent minors from buying alcohol.
1 dead, 2 stabbed during alleged ‘drug deal gone wrong’ in Port Huron Township, police say
PORT HURON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating what is believed to be a drug deal gone bad in Port Huron Charter Township early Wednesday morning. One person is dead and two others suffered stab wounds during the incident, officials said. The Port Huron Charter Township man provided information regarding the assault to officers and was then transported to the hospital. Port Huron police identified and stopped a vehicle in connection with the incident at about 4:30 a.m., officials said. A 21-year-old Washington Township man was also in the car and suffered from lacerations.

Port Huron man arrested in connection with string of armed robberies
PORT HURON, Mich. – On Friday, the Port Huron Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigative Division arrested a 40-year-old Port Huron resident wanted in connection to a string of armed robberies. Police say the armed robbery attempts took place at five locations within the Port Huron area. Officers arrested the man in the Village Manor Apartments in the 3100 block of Electric Avenue in Port Huron. The robberies took place at businesses from November of 2019 to March of this year.
Port Huron man wanted in connection with missing jewelry arrested in Florida, police say
PORT HURON, Mich. – A Port Huron man who was wanted in connection with missing jewelry was arrested in Florida, according to the Port Huron Police Department. Police said Rick Bud Currie, 62, wanted in connection with missing jewelry from the now closed Rick Currie Master Goldsmiths at 307 Huron Ave. was arrested near Jasper, Florida. Police said a large amount of suspected stolen jewelry was discovered in his vehicle. "While following up on numerous leads and executing numerous search warrants, information was gathered that put Rick Currie in Florida." Police said investigators will be contacting the victims who filed complaints to positively identify their jewelry once Currie has been extradited back to Michigan and the stolen jewelry has been returned to the Port Huron Police Department and inventoried.
