Police say Thomas was picked up by a white SUV, which could have possible been an Uber or Lyft vehicle. There is evidence that suggests Thomas may be in the area of Six Mile and Newburgh roads in Livonia, or Six Mile and Haggerty roads in Northville Township.
Westland police locate children taken by mother from aunt’s house
WESTLAND, Mich. – Westland police have located two young children who officials believe were taken by their mother from their aunt’s house, officials said. The children are safe. The mother was accused of taking the children in a white Buick sedan, authorities said. WESTLAND, Mich. – James Herrara said he was facing life in prison for a crime he did not commit. Victim stated this subject produced a small black handgun and stated “give me the money”. Based on the name and physical description given by the Victim, Sgt. Victim stated yes. The Victim stated that because he received his money back he no longer wished to prosecute.

WESTLAND, Mich. – Police are asking for help locating a missing 39-year-old man who was last seen in the 2000 block of Alberta Street in Westland. Westland police said Ryan Loyd Hollis was last seen on Sept. 17 at his Westland home. He is described as being 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 190 pounds. WESTLAND, Mich. Police are searching for a 100-year-old woman who went missing Monday afternoon in Westland. A missing endangered alert has been issued for Mae Baker. She was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 28000 block of Currier Avenue in Westland. She is described as an African American woman standing about 5 feet 4 inches and weighing about 150 pounds. She was last seen wearing tan pants, a black and white short-sleeved shirt and black shoes.

WESTLAND, Mich. Dramatic video captured Westland police officers attempt to save a man from a burning car -- a man who didnt seem to want their help. Surrounded by police, the driver continued to drive doughnuts until the vehicle lit on fire and came to a stop. Get out, it is on fire, man, a police officer can be hear on the video. Im good, Im good, the driver said back. The driver locked his arms around the steering wheel and continued to fight officers as the SUV burned.
Man arrested in Westland Mall shooting, police still seek others involved
WESTLAND, Mich. – Police arrested Gregory Travis, 24, Monday in connection to a shooting that occurred July 9 at the Westland Mall. Police said an employee said two or three men were arguing inside a perfume store when one man pulled a hand gun and fired two shots at another man. Witnesses told police all the men involved in the argument fled the mall on foot. Police said it was not a random act of violence as the parties involved had interactions prior to their confrontation at the Westland Mall. The Westland Police are still attempting to identify others who were involved.

Westland police release video of violent arrest of man with autism
WESTLAND, Mich. Police released video of a confrontation that led to the firing of a Westland Police Department officer and an investigation by the prosecutors office. Officers were trying to arrest a man with autism who was suspected to be connected to an armed robbery. While the incident and the officers firing happened months ago, Westland police said they released the video from the arrest in order to be transparent while the investigation continues. Police dash camera footage shows the officer chasing the man with his weapon drawn. Westland police chief Jeff Jedrusik said, in part, We are dedicated to the departments polices, training curriculum and to maintaining our communitys trust.
2 in custody after man fatally shot outside Westland home
WESTLAND, Mich. – Two people are in custody after a man was found fatally shot outside a Westland home on Monday night. Police said shots were fired at a home on Van Born Road, a few blocks west of Inkster Road. Westland police and Michigan State Police are on scene. Police said a father, his daughter and his daughter’s boyfriend live in the home. The boyfriend was outside of the home and that’s when police said he kicked in the door to get inside the house and was shot at and killed.
Westland police charge 3 in connection with fatal shooting of 17-year-old bicyclist
WESTLAND, Mich. – Westland police have charged three people in connection with the death of a Novi teenager who was shot while riding his bicycle. Jones-Moody is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony and one felony firearm violation. She’s being held in lieu of $75,000 bail and has to wear a GPS tether if released. He is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and will have to wear a GPS tether if released. All three are scheduled to return to 18th District Court on June 18 for a probable cause conference.
Westland Police Department helping kids with special needs experience lights, loud sounds
Officers from the Westland Police Department took a timeout to show special guests like Paul Witbeck and his family around the station. My kids like learning, like, tons of new things all of the time, said Witbeck. Thats because these kids have special needs and cant really experience the lights and sounds, but they can be a part of the behind-the-scenes work, like fingerprinting. "I can guarantee you that everyone at this department is here to help you, and they absolutely will if you have any problems, special needs or not, obviously. You can come up here and see us, and we will do what we can to help, said Wilkie.
Police investigating after human remains located at Hines Park in Westland
WESTLAND, Mich. - Police were at Hines Park in Westland Friday before 4 p.m. investigating after human remains were located. The Westland Police Department and fire department were on scene.
