A Rochester Hills woman hugged a stair guardrail to try to avoid arrest after she stole her parents’ Jeep, crashed it into a neighbor’s house and was found surrounded by empty beer and wine bottles, authorities said.

Chief of Cherokee Nation calls on Jeep to stop using tribe’s name
DETROIT – It is time for Jeep to stop using the Cherokee Nation’s name on its Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SUVs, the chief of the Oklahoma-based tribe said. In a recent interview the chief of the Cherokee Nation says it should be time for a change and that comes as the company is set to roll out the next generation of the SUV. Springsteen charged with drunken driving; Jeep ad on pause

Springsteen was arrested Nov. 14 in a part of the Gateway National Recreation Area on the New Jersey coast, a spokesperson for the National Park Service confirmed Wednesday. Springsteen received citations for driving while under the influence, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area. While during Sunday's Super Bowl, he appeared in a Jeep ad filmed in Kansas that urged people to find common ground. But the company said, “it’s also right that we pause our Big Game commercial until the actual facts can be established."

On Friday, the state reported a total of 565,251 cases and 14,778 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported a total of 498,495 recoveries from the virus. Michigan’s 7-day moving average for daily cases was 1,201 on Saturday -- the lowest since October. The state also reports “active cases,” which were listed at 54,300 on Saturday -- the lowest it’s been since November.

He’s said he doesn’t care about the Jeep, he just want his father’s belongings back. There’s paintings in there of my father,” Justin said. Justin’s now offering a $15,000 reward for his father’s belongings, but he fears it may be too late for the vehicle. Plans were being made to make sure his father remains were honorably laid to rest.
Revamped Detroit auto plant to start making new Jeep by March
DETROIT – A revamped version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV with three rows of seats will roll off the assembly line this spring at a restored Detroit factory complex. Fiat Chrysler unveiled the Grand Cherokee L on Thursday and said production would start by the end of March. It hired 3,850 people to work at the company's first new auto plant in Detroit in nearly three decades. Current versions of the Grand Cherokee are now being built at FCA's Jefferson North plant in Detroit. Once Detroit Assembly is up and running, Jefferson North will be converted to build the new versions, FCA said.

HARRISON CHARTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Sydney Parham, a 26-year-old woman from Fraser, was charged with arson in connection to a Wednesday Harrison Township vehicle fire. According to authorities, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at about 8 a.m. to the San Remo Villa Apartment complex on Union Lake Road on reports of a vehicle fire. Harrison Township Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. Police said they located Parham in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Parham was taken into custody, checked out medically, and lodged at the Macomb County Jail.

Tribute held for Monroe County Animal Control officer who died after multiple-car crash
MONROE, Mich. A tribute for a fallen Monroe County Animal Control Officer was held on Thursday. Darrian Young, 24, was working the morning of June 4 when a drunk driver ran a red light and smashed her vehicle. Officer Young was an enthusiastic, energetic, animal lover who had a particular passion for horses, the Monroe County Sheriffs Office said in a statement. Downriver Jeep clubs decided there was a way to honor Young and support her family. Money raised from the convoy will go toward a memorial fund to benefit the animal control.

Cook was also charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and assault with a dangerous weapon. Myles was also charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended, revoked or denied license, second offense. Cook and Myles allegedly got out of the vehicle and fired shots into the trailer park.

It turns out the SUV's owner had lent it to his cousin so that guy wouldn't have to ride his motorcycle in the bad weather, the owner told CNN affiliate WMBF. So, the owner's cousin "got on the beach and started driving it," the owner told WMBF. Then I called (my cousin) and spoke to him and he told me exactly what happened," the Jeep's owner told the station. Workers used a backhoe loader Friday morning to tow the Jeep away, video posted by Myrtle Beach police shows.
15-year-old girl arrested, 4 male teenagers detained after shots fired in Oakland County, police say
PONTIAC, Mich. - A 15-year-old girl was arrested and four male teenagers were detained after shots were fired from a Jeep in Oakland County in retaliation for an earlier incident, police said. Witnesses told authorities a woman was shooting a handgun from a silver Jeep Commander, police said. Deputies said they arrived at the scene and learned the shooting was in retaliation for an earlier incident. Authorities saw the Jeep heading south on Cesar Chavez Boulevard near Johnson Street at a high speed, police said. One of the passengers, a 15-year-old Pontiac girl, told deputies she had fired a handgun and it was still in the Jeep, according to authorities.
