Michigan court throws out convictions after misconduct by prosecutor
DETROIT โ The Michigan appeals court threw out a man's conspiracy, theft and drug convictions and a six-year prison sentence after finding โtrue misconductโ by a prosecutor in a small county. When Mienkwic went to trial in 2018, Koerner was on the other side as an assistant prosecutor. AdThe appeals court last week threw out the convictions. It's a โrare occurrence of the prosecutorโs actions rising to the level of true misconduct,โ the court said. And that's what we have here,โ said appeals court Judge Brock Swartzle.
Michigan man accused of murder, mutilation headed to trial
SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. โ A man accused of killing and mutilating 25-year-old Kevin Bacon last year is standing trial. Mark Latunski faced a judge Friday in Shiawassee County District Court. Michigan State Police trooper Robert Viviano testified Friday that he found Baconโs body in Latunskiโs basement, according to a report from WEYI. Latunksi was found fit to stand trial earlier this month and was arraigned on open murder and mutilation charges. Michigan to auction 225 land parcels: Heres where, how to bid
Michigan will hold its annual land auction this fall, offering more than 200 parcels of surplus land across the state. The parcels available for auction range from lake frontage to small lots. There will be 225 properties available through an online auction in September and October. Counties include Allegan, Antrim, Bay, Crawford, Gladwin, Gogebic, Houghton, Lake, Lapeer, Missaukee, Newaygo, Oscoda, Otsego, Schoolcraft and Shiawassee. Ten online auctions will be offered, featuring available land parcels by county:Sept. 8 Shiawassee County.
Severe weather moves through parts of Michigan overnight
DETROIT Some areas of mid and southeast Michigan were hit by severe thunderstorms overnight. There have been some tree damage reports, including a large limb taking down a power line in Mount Morris, causing a power outage. Aside from that, the Local 4Casters say rest of the area appears to have escaped the worst. There were some reports of downed limbs in southeast Michigan, including as far south as Warren:This is a mess. Driver treated for minor injuries after losing control of vehicle in Shiawassee County
OWOSSO, Mich. โ Officials said a driver going south on M-52 lost control of the vehicle at a high rate of speed on a curve and crashed. Deputies from the Shiawassee County Sheriffโs Office responded to the scene on M-52 near Juddville Road at 12:12 p.m. on Thursday. It happened in front of the Shiawassee Conservation Association. Deputies said they are seeking charges on the driver who they believe was operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. The driver was transported to a hospital for minor injuries, according to officials.

In 2002, Warner Brothers Entertainment purchased the blueprints of the Pere Marquette 1225 to accurately recreate the train in Robert Zemeckisโ 2004 movie adaptation.
