‘Claw and order’ served up, as Kalamazoo Public Safety officer makes rescue
KALAMAZOO, MI – A Kalamazoo Public Safety officer made a purr-fect rescue Monday. An orange cat had been stuck in a tree for two days before the rescue around midday Jan. 9, on Woodward Avenue, near North Street, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post. A citizen who was caring for the cat called in about the animal being stuck, KDPS Public Information Officer Jay Shatara said. The department had some fun in their Facebook post, showing the officer holding the cat and offering a smattering of cat puns. Yes, we’re Fur-real!”Public safety officer Joshua Pena served some “claw and order” and avoided a “CATastrophe” in the rescue mission, the post said.

Michigan family reunited with cat lost during devastating Midland floods
MIDLAND COUNTY, Mich. – It’s been eight months since the devastating floods in Midland County. “She did find us for a reason, I believe,” Ashley Flood said. “And so, we actually, we definitely played our part, I think.”On a cold snowy winter day, The Flood family heard a cat outside meowing for hours. “It seemed well fed and its coat was rather clean,” Ashley Flood said. They took the cat to the Humane Society of Midland County and found out the cat was micochipped.

WYANDOTTE, Mich. A Downriver neighborhood is on edge because cats keep dying. Police said at least two cats have been shot, but the neighbors claim its a lot more. I thought he had gotten hit by a car.She took Vega to a veterinarian and an X-ray showed his leg was shattered by a high-power pellet gun. I couldnt believe it when he showed me the X-ray, Hanselman said. At least four other cats have not survive their run in with the cat-hater and Hanselman is deeply concerned.
Empty the Shelters: Pet adoption fees reduced this weekend
BISSELL Pet Foundations (BPF) Empty the Shelters (ETS) event will take place July 10-12. More than 160 of BPFs shelter and rescue partners are participating in this reduced fee adoption event which will aim to find forever homes for thousands of cats and dogs. BISSEL said since the program began in 2016, Empty the Shelters has found homes for 37,394 pets and counting. During the COVID-19 pandemic alone, 6,231 pets were adopted during two ETS events executed by appointment only, according to BISSEL.
