Police in Oakland County are trying to identify a “shadowy figure” who was seen walking between the rooms of a Pontiac home moments before it went up in flames, ultimately killing two people and injuring five others.
Barn fire in western Michigan kills several farm animals
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – A large barn fire killed multiple animals Thursday morning in Berrien County. According to authorities, the Chikaming Township Fire Department were called to the fire at about 5:30 a.m.Fire crews were able to save two horses, two goats and some of the chickens, but some chickens, a peacock and four llamas -- including three babies -- were killed by the fire. “By the time we were able to do anything, it was so totally involved there was absolutely no way that anybody could go inside to try to get the other animals out,” said fire chief Mike Davidson. “It had too much of a head start on us.”The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities believe no foul play is involved.
2 killed in Detroit house fire believed to be caused by space heaters
DETROIT – Fire crews believe space heaters were the cause of a fatal house fire Saturday morning in Detroit. According to authorities, the bodies of two men were found in a bedroom in a home on Lauder Street, near the intersection of Hubbell and Fenkell avenues. The Detroit Fire Department said several space heaters were found in the home and they believe the propane and kerosene heaters were being misused. Fire on Detroit’s east side kills 1, injures 4
DETROIT – A fire at a group home on Detroit’s east side killed one man and injured four others Friday morning. It happened on Burns Avenue, near I-94 and Van Dyke Avenue. The group home was significantly damaged and the building might be a total loss. The other four men were rushed to a hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Woman killed, child critically injured in suspicious Detroit house fire
DETROIT – The 20-year-old woman who firefighters pulled from a burning home in the 7400 block of Clayburn Street in Detroit Tuesday afternoon along with a young boy has died, confirmed Dave Fornell, Deputy Fire Commissioner. Detroit police are now investigating the case as a homicide and say the woman suffered a gunshot wound. The boy suffered burns and smoke inhalation. Officials say the woman was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital with burns covering over 50 percent of her body and suffered from smoke inhalation. According to the Detroit Fire Department, firefighters pulled them from the house right when they arrived about noon Tuesday.

Couple dies in Van Buren Township house fire
VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. A husband and a wife in their 70s died in a house fire in Van Buren Township, according to officials. Van Buren Public Safety responded to a house fire in the Belle Harbor Estates Subdivision at 45510 Lilac Lane on Tuesday morning at 1:59 a.m. When police got on scene the fire was already well involved in the house, according to officials. Fire departments from Romulus, Belleville and Sumpter Township responded to the scene too. Van Buren Fire Department and Michigan State Police are investigating the cause.

DETROIT – A 9-year-old girl died early Tuesday morning in a house fire on Detroit’s west side.
