3 people killed in crash on eastbound I-94 at Chalmers
DETROIT โ Three people have been killed in a crash early Monday morning in eastbound lanes of I-94 at Chalmers Street in Detroit. The crash happened before 2 a.m. According to Michigan State Police, a preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Camaro was speeding when it hit a Mercury SUV. The Camaro had a 39-year-old man behind wheel and a 38-year-old woman passenger. State police report excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash.
Michigan Electors to be given police escort to Lansing Capitol Building for vote
LANSING, Mich. โ Michigan State House, Senate and Capitol buildings will be closed Monday as the Electoral College meets. Darrin Camilleri, the entire legislature will be working remotely due to safety concerns during the Electoral College vote. Northbound I-75 reopens at Southfield Road (M-39) after semi truck crash
All northbound lanes of I-75 have reopened at Southfield Road in Lincoln Park after closing for several hours Thursday morning due to a crash involving a semi truck. The crash was reported just after 3 a.m. Thursday. A semi truck overturned. The lanes have been cleared for traffic to resume as of 7:50 a.m.No serious injuries were reported. View: Live Traffic map
Report: Canada extends US border closure until Dec. 21
The current extension of the border crossing restrictions was set to expire Nov. 21, 2020. Canada - United States border closure extended again, this time until December 21st, CBC News has learned. Foreign nationals who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted to enter Canada, regardless of their reason for travel. Ann Arbor District Library closes after staff members test positive for COVID-19
ANN ARBOR โ All Ann Arbor District Library locations closed on Sunday after some staff members tested positive for COVID-19. This means that all lobbies will be closed and all scheduled pick ups have been canceled. While AADLโs outdoor drop boxes are still open, library staff will not be checking in materials at this time. โNo fees are being charged,โ wrote Parker. โDonโt worry if you picked up items from the library recently; there was no exposure risk related to contactless pickups,โ wrote Parker.

Westbound I-94 back open in Downtown Detroit

State police investigate shooting along I-94 near Moross in Detroit
DETROIT โ Michigan State Police are investigating a suspected freeway shooting reported early Thursday morning along I-94 on Detroitโs east side. Police said about 2:45 a.m. troopers were called to westbound I-94 near Chalmers Street for a shooting. A driver told troopers he was on westbound I-94 when someone in a black SUV started shooting at him. State police shut down westbound I-94 at Moross Road. Ann Arbor ReUse Center announces permanent closure
ANN ARBOR, Mich. After closing in March due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the ReUse Center of Ann Arbor announced Wednesday it will not be reopening. In an update on its official website, the large thrift store said it would not reopen due to many factors, including the challenges of the pandemic and inability to negotiate fair and sustainable rent terms with our landlord.Recycle Ann Arbor is looking into how future reuse efforts will continue. It is unknown if this will mean a new store or a different program. We thank the community for the many years of shopping and donating at the Reuse Center, the website said. Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run on I-75 in Detroit
DETROIT โ Police are searching for the driver of a Dodge Challenger that fatally struck a motorcyclist early Tuesday morning on southbound I-75 in Detroit. Michigan State Police said the vehicle struck the motorcyclist about 1:30 a.m. The Challengerโs driver and a passenger both fled the area. The southbound side of I-75 was closed for several hours at 7 Mile Road as police investigated. No other information is available at this time.
Logan Restaurant announces closure after 16 years in downtown Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR One of downtowns longest-running establishments, Logan Restaurant, announced that it will be closing its doors permanently after 16 years. The restaurant, owned by brothers Ryan and Thad Gillies, made the announcement on its Facebook page on Monday afternoon. We are sad to announce Logan restaurant will be closing its doors, read the post. In order to move inventory, Logan is transforming into a retail wine store for customers, with discounts for cases and half cases. The Gillies brothers opened fast casual concept Chow Asian Street Food a couple blocks from Logan in 2019.
Man killed in crash on I-275 near Ann Arbor Road
CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ All northbound lanes of I-275 were closed for hours Monday morning at Ford Road in Canton Township after a deadly crash. The northbound side of the interstate was closed for several hours but has since reopened to traffic. Michigan State Police said a preliminary investigation found that a semi truck was parked with its hazard lights activated on the right shoulder of the northbound side of I-275 near Ann Arbor Road. A car driven by a 37-year-old man, of Milford, drove off the roadway and struck the truck trailer. The semi truck driver was not injured.
Police order Art Van Furniture store to close early
WARREN, Mich. โ Police ordered an Art Van Furniture store in suburban Detroit to close early Saturday because of unruly crowds, the city's mayor said. Police ordered the store on 14 Mile Road to close at 4 p.m., Warren Mayor Jim Fouts said. Iโve never seen anything this bad.โThere were traffic jams to get into the store and fights were breaking out, Fouts said. โEmployees are extremely mad and upset, and customers are extremely mad and upset," Fouts said. Liquidation sales began Friday at all Art Van Furniture, Art Van PureSleep and Scott Shuptrine Interiors in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri.
Southbound I-275 reopens at M-5/I-96/I-696 after man struck, killed
A man was killed March 3, 2020 when he was struck by a vehicle along I-275 near M-5 in Oakland County. FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. โ Michigan State Police closed southbound I-275 at the M-5/I-96/I-696 interchange for a deadly crash investigation on Tuesday morning. State police said a man believed to be in his 50s was struck by another car, a Chrysler 300. State police originally said the man was outside of his vehicle because he was changing a tire. The driver of the Chrysler 300, a man believed to be in his 30s, was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Westbound I-94 near Allard exit back open after crash
HARPER WOODS, Mich. โ The Michigan Department of Transportation said that westbound I-94 near the Allard Avenue exit was closed due to a crash. The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Friday in the Harper Woods area. Traffic was being routed off at the Allard exit. Police said the road was back open just before 7 p.m.Police said one serious injury has been reported. Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge to close this summer for repairs
GROSSE ILE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ The Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge, officially called the Wayne County Bridge, over the Trenton Channel is scheduled to close on or after May 1 for repairs. Once it is closed, the bridge may not reopen until October 2020, according to Grosse Ile Township officials. At the time, the county said the Grosse Ile Parkway Bridge will have to undergo extensive rehabilitation work during the 2020 construction season. The design for Phase II has been completed and rehabilitation work is being bid out. The Grosse Ile Toll Bridge remains open at the north end of the island.
I-94 closure this weekend in Detroit postponed due to weather
DETROIT โ Both directions of I-94 will be shut down this weekend between I-96 and Michigan Avenue (US-12) in Detroit so crews can work on a section of the concrete and two bridges. UPDATE: The closure has been postponed due to weather. The stretch of I-94 is expected to be back open to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13.
