The Detroit police are searching for a man who shot and killed two people on Detroitโs west side, officials say. The shooting happened on Evergreen Road between Lyndon Street and Schoolcraft. Police say the man theyโre looking for was in the vehicle with the two victims outside the Smith Homes Apartments.

MSP Trooper charged with assault in handling of police dog
LANSING, Mich. โ Disturbing video of an arrest near Lansing has led to criminal charges against a state trooper over how he handled his police dog. Parker Surbrook joined the Michigan State Police in 2012 and worked his way up to becoming a K-9 handler. The dashcam footage shows Surbookโs K-9 was on the suspect for more than 3 and a half minutes while the man pleaded for the trooper to pull the dog off. AdThe driver pleads for Surbrook to remove the dog and said his leg is broken. After reviewing the video, Surbrook was charged with one count of felonious assault.

Missing 71-year-old man found unconscious in Michigan forest
SELMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. A 71-year-old man who went missing Friday afternoon was discovered in northern Michigan woods early Saturday morning. Police said a 71-year-old man left his home at about 3 p.m. for a daily walk and never returned. The Michigan State Police Cadillac Post K-9 Team was asked to help locate the missing man and started searching just before midnight. WAYNE, Mich. โ The Wayne Police Departmentโs newest team member has four legs, but he isnโt a K-9 officer. The department recently got Zeke, a therapy dog. He received 24 weeks of obedience training to be qualified for the role. Therapy dogs must also undergo obedience testing, veterinarian certification and observation from trained testers in various settings, the department said. Zeke lives with Chief Ryan Strong, who paid for training, supplies, veterinarian visits and membership to the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Man facing charges on suspicion of shooting gun in Wayne
WAYNE, Mich. - A man is facing charges after Wayne police were called Monday about someone shooting a gun. Police said Patrick Walsh Jr., 33, was shooting a gun in the 35000 block of Brush Street then fled the scene on foot. A Westland police K-9 helped track down Walsh at a nearby home, police said. During a search of the home, police said they found the handgun Walsh had fired. Walsh is charged with three counts of felonious assault and three counts of felony firearm.

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Police are investigating after a Fifth Third Bank in Chesterfield Township was robbed Wednesday at 2:35 p.m.Police said the robber fled the bank on foot with an unknown amount of cash. The Chesterfield Township Police Department used a K-9 unit to search the area for the suspect, but was not successful. The police department's detective bureau and the FBI are investigating this robbery and a previous bank robbery that occurred in Chesterfield Township at a Citizens Bank on Oct. 2. Caught on video: Police K-9 attacked by pit bull
CNNANAHEIM, California (CNN) - An Anaheim police K-9 was attacked by a pit bull Wednesday while taking part in a search for a stabbing suspect, KCAL reported. Daron Wyatt, the incident began just before noon as officers were searching for a stabbing suspect. He eventually came out, but so did a large pit bull, which charged the K-9, prompting an officer to use a Taser gun on the pit bull in order to subdue it. The pit bull was turned over to Orange County Animal Care. The man taken into custody is not believed to be connected to the stabbing, Wyatt said.
Royal Oak police K-9 retires after 7 years with department

DETROIT - Michigan State Police troopers apprehended a suspected car thief Thursday. According to authorities, no one was injured and there was no damage done to any property. Wayne State officer killed remembered at Lions game
DETROIT โ A Wayne State University police officer who died after being shot was honored at the Detroit Lions game Thursday. Officer Collin Rose and his K-9 partner, Wolverine, were a member of the Ford Field Explosives Detection Team, Local 4 News has learned. The Lions paid a tribute to Rose before Thursday's game.
