Accumulating messy wintry mix in Metro Detroit this week: What to know
Those of us closer to Downtown Detroit including most of Metro Detroit are seeing some rain and snow battling back and forth with temperatures in the low to middle 30s. Snow totals are greatly minimized by this mix of moisture becoming mostly just snow after 8 a.m.
Metro Detroit weather: Surge of warm air; rain showers possible next 2 days
Warmer air surging in has pushed afternoon temperatures into the low 60s (16 to 17 degrees Celsius) in some parts of Metro Detroit, with others in Lenawee and Monroe counties even approaching 70 degrees (20 to 21 degrees Celsius) in spots.

Winter Weather Advisory issued for Metro Detroit, other counties until 4 p.m. Tuesday
DETROIT โ The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for 11 counties -- Genesse, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Wayne -- until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Between 3-5 inches of snow is expected to accumulate in Midland, Bay, Huron, Saginaw, Tuscola, Sanilac, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer and St. Clair counties between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday. Heavier snow is expected in Metro Detroit between 6-9 a.m. before transitioning to freezing drizzle after 9 a.m. into the afternoon.
Alcohol suspected contributing factor in Ypsilanti Township crash that killed construction workers
YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Two construction workers were struck and killed on eastbound I-94 near Harris Road in Ypsilanti Township around 1:45 a.m. today, according to Michigan State Police. A vehicle driven by 29-year-old Belleville resident Ryann Danielle Musselman hit both of the construction workers in the area. Police say the cause of the crash is suspected of being alcohol related. She was arrested and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail for two counts of Operating While Intoxicated. Car theft at Huron Township rail yard leaves 1 dead
HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A man was killed Thursday after several automobile thefts at a Wayne County rail yard. Police said several people tried to steal cars and one ended up in a nearby pond. At about 4 a.m., Huron Township police got a call about several people trying to steal cars from the CSX Rail Yard on Pennsylvania Road, between Huron River Drive and I-275. At some point, one of the drivers lost control and the vehicle ended up overturned in a pond on the properties. CSX Transportation said three of the stolen cars have been recovered and thanked officers from the Romulus and Huron Township police departments for their quick response.

One of the vehicles ended up in a pond on the property. Itโs not clear if anyone suffered injuries. Police swarmed the area Thursday morning. CSX Transportation is investigating.
Ann Arbor Huron, Pioneer football teams suspend activities after confirmed COVID-19 case
ANN ARBOR โ Ann Arbor Public Schools announced on its website on Thursday that a Huron varsity football player has tested positive for COVID-19. According to the notice, AAPS was made aware of a probable case on Oct. 6 and reported it to the Washtenaw County Health Department. All Huron varsity football activities and games through Oct. 16 have been canceled. Huron played against Pioneer last Friday, and due to potential contact during the game, all Pioneer varsity football activities have been suspended. AAPS said it is working with the Washtenaw County Health Department on contact tracing with members of the Pioneer team.
First Street in Ann Arbor closed for road improvements
ANN ARBOR, Mich. โ A portion of First Street in downtown Ann Arbor will be closed for over a month while improvements are made to the road. The project started Monday, Sept. 28 and is anticipated to be completed by Saturday, Nov. 21, according to the city. Forecast calls for continued high water in Great Lakes
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. A new forecast says Great Lakes levels are likely to remain unusually high and may set additional records. Hydrologist Keith Kompoltowicz (kohm-PAUL-toe-witz) says a wet October interrupted the usual fall drop-off of water levels. Storms over Lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior caused beach erosion, flooding and damage to seawalls and roads. Kompoltowicz says all five Great Lakes are expected to resume their seasonal decline. He says Huron and Michigan are likely to set monthly records in February, while Superior will come close.

Sanilac, Huron and Tuscola Counties are under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Cold winds chills are expected, some dropping to 15 below zero. Residents are advised to wear a hat and gloves if they venture outside.
