A woman who was found drunk in the driverโs seat of a running car on the side of an Oakland County highway refused to provide her license to a state trooper and continually screamed at him to โsay her full name,โ police said.

51-year-old man charged in deadly machete attack in Pontiac, deputies say
PONTIAC, Mich. โ A 51-year-old Independence Township man accused of killing a man and injuring another with a machete and steak knife has been charged with first-degree murder, according to the Oakland County Sheriffโs Office. The sheriffโs office said Todd Szyszkowski is also charged with assault with intent to murder and armed robbery. A 59-year-old Pontiac man, who authorities said was injured in the attack, fled the scene to a nearby gas station to report the incident. Deputies said the 59-year-old man had severe lacerations to his head but is in stable condition. AdOfficials said a machete and broken steak knife were found, believing to be the weapons used in the attack.
2 people injured after vehicle crashes into laundromat in Oakland County
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Two people were injured after a vehicle crashed into a laundromat Tuesday in Independence Township. The 74-year-old woman driving the vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment. โWe just heard a big explosion, and when I walked out, I saw the car inside the laundromat,โ said Virginia Dorse. โI ran outside and was checking on the lady in the car and then other people were checking on the other car.โNo one inside the laundromat was hurt. Police: Man accidentally shoots himself at doctorโs office in Independence Township, gun thrown in lake
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A 65-year-old man accidentally shot himself during a doctorโs appointment on Wednesday, police say. The Pontiac resident reportedly found a gun outside of his residence and put it in his pocket before his appointment with the McLaren Medical Group in Independence Township. Police say the man reached into his pocket while in the exam room and the gun discharged, grazing his backside and resulting in a minor injury. Police say during an interview the man reported giving the gun to his brother, who said the gun was thrown in a nearby lake. A dive team with the Oakland County Sheriffโs Office is expected to search the lake for the handgun.
White Mich. couple arrested after gun pulled on Black family

Cellphone video captured the confrontation Wednesday outside a Chipotle in Orion Township, about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northwest of Detroit. Takelia Hill, who is Black, told the newspaper that it happened after the white woman bumped into Hill's teenage daughter as they were entering the fast food restaurant. The video footage starts after that, in the parking lot. A woman shouts, She's got a gun on me! and urges someone in the parking lot to call the police.
Man suspected of robbing several convenience stores around Oakland County
BRANDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ Police have arrested a man suspected of breaking into and robbing several convenience stores around Oakland County. Officials said Nathan James Calhoun, 28, of Brandon Township, is accused of breaking into stores in Orion, Brandon and Independence townships. At 12:49 a.m. Sunday, Calhoun broke into the Indianwood Junction Party Stop at 20 North Baldwin Road in Orion Township, according to authorities. Deputies said they went to the Mobil gas station at 1152 South Ortonville Road in Brandon Township at 1:52 a.m. for a glass breaking alarm. Someone had broken into the gas station, but nobody was there, officials said.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ An Oakland County man armed with an Airsoft pistol was arrested after he robbed a store, apologized to the clerk and shaved off all his facial hair to try to hide his identity, police said. Matthew Christopher Brusen, 21, of Independence Township, walked into the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 5751 Clarkston Road in Independence Township at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, according to authorities. Brusen took an item to the register and handed the clerk money when she scanned the item, police said. He lifted his coat to reveal a bulge, indicating he was armed, according to police. Brusen was taken to the Oakland County Jail and is facing an armed robbery charge.
13-year-old Orion Township girl killed in Oakland County snowmobile crash identified
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. โ Police said a 13-year-old girl was killed in a snowmobile crash in northern Oakland County. Oakland County deputies and Independence Township firefighters were called to the scene at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Whipple Lake and North Eston roads in Independence Township. The Oakland County Sheriffโs Office said a 55-year-old from Independence Township was on a snowmobile that was struck by another snowmobile. The crash caused the girl to be ejected from the boyโs snowmobile, according to police. The girl died from her injuries, she has been identified as Alexandria Lambert from Orion Township.

The boy was following his 55-year-old father, from Independence Township, who was also riding a snowmobile, according to deputies. Oakland County deputies and Independence Township firefighters were called at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Whipple Lake and North Eston roads in Independence Township. Drunk 16-year-old breaks into Oakland County neighborโs house, thinking it was his own, police say
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. โ A drunk 16-year-old boy broke into his neighborโs home in Oakland County by throwing a rock through a glass sliding door, police said. He told deputies he lived in the home. Deputies went to the backyard and found a broken glass sliding door that had had a rock thrown through it, according to officials. He appeared to be heavily intoxicated and told deputies that he lived in the home, police said. Deputies said they learned the boy lived a couple houses away.
