DETROIT โ Four doctors, two nurse practitioners and three pharmacists are among the 19 people who have been indicted in connection with an elaborate drug scheme that went on for years, officials said. The opioid epidemic is still very much a problem in Metro Detroit, with people addicted to and dying from pain pills, heroin and fentanyl. Oxycodone, Percocet and hydrocodone are powerful pain pills that were pedaled on the streets for cash. โThese people are greedy and they donโt care about the average citizen,โ said Steve Dolunt, the former assistant Detroit police chief. โAverage people, some people, have pain,โ Dolunt said.
CBP officers seize over 400 pounds of marijuana in Detroit
DETROIT โ CBP officers working cargo operations at the Fort Street Cargo Facility discovered 418 pounds of marijuana in a trash hauler driven by a Canadian citizen. During the inspection, 15 large trash bags of drugs were discovered hidden in the rear of the hauler. During an x-ray exam of the hauler, CBP officers discovered several odd shapes in the rear of the hauler. The odd shapes turned out to be bags of marijuana. โThis seizure once again demonstrates the vigilance of CBP Officers โ even during these trying times,โ said Devin Chamberlain, Detroit Port Director.
Over 80 pounds of cocaine and fentanyl seized at Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron
PORT HURON, Mich. โ Customs Border Protection officers inspecting commercial trucks departing the United States and destined for Canada overnight at the Blue Water Bridge discovered several pounds of narcotics located in the tractor cab of an outbound commercial carrier. The commercial carrier was hauling a shipment of flavoring syrup originating in California. During the inspection, over 80 pounds of suspected cocaine and fentanyl were discovered. Officers discovered several bricks of suspected cocaine and fentanyl. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Border Enforcement Security Task Force Port Huron is investigating.
Northern Michigan man charged with possession of meth
MONTMORENCY COUNTY, Mich. โ A Northern Michigan man was arrested by state police for possession of methamphetamine, officials said. Michigan State Police troopers conducted a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Feb. 23 on M-32 near Hall Road in Avery Township, officials said. There were four people in the car, including Marcus Allen Mackay, 36, of Grayling, Michigan. Mackay was arrested for possession of meth, according to authorities. Mackay was arraigned at 88th District Court in Montmorency County and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
3 Michigan men busted in connection with selling cocaine
Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with selling cocaine in Emmet County. The three suspects were in the home when the search warrant was executed. Police say 21-year-old Brett Eric Williams of Alanson was charged with delivery of cocaine and conspiracy to deliver cocaine. Adam Nicholas Albrecht, 22, of Alanson was charged with delivery of cocaine, conspiracy to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and maintaining a drug house. Darren Andrew Robinson, 19, of Alanson was charged with delivery of cocaine and conspiracy to deliver cocaine.
Authorities find about $1 million worth of marijuana at illegal grow operation in Detroit
DETROIT โ Authorities said they found about $1 million worth of marijuana at an illegal grow operation Thursday in Detroit. According to officials, the weed was discovered during a drug bust in the area of Irvington Street and East Seven Mile Road. When a search warrant was executed, the grow operation was found inside a building, and two trailers outside were also filled with marijuana, authorities said.
โMcDonaldโs for drugs': Leader of massive Detroit drug operation sentenced to 30 years in prison
DETROIT โ The leader of a massive heroin, crack cocaine, and fentanyl operation in Detroit is headed to prison for 30 years. Officials said Demarco Tempo, who goes by Polo, was called โa McDonaldโs for drugsโ by former customers. Authorities said an investigation into a rash of non-fatal fentanyl overdoses and a fatal overdose in Warren led to an investigation in 2016. According to authorities, Tempoโs organization was selling heroin mixed with fentanyl, and sometimes just fentanyl, to people. Many of them were convicted on numerous charges related to distribution, conspiracy to distribute and other charges related to overdoses.
Arrests made in northern Michigan crystal meth drug bust
The search warrant resulted in approximately 60 grams of crystal methamphetamine and Xanax bars seized. The suspect, 42-year-old Charles Culberston of Grawn, was arrested during the search warrant. A female suspect also lives at the home and returned there during the search warrant. Nicole Shamblin, 36-years-old, was held in Grand Traverse County for possession of methamphetamine and probation violation. Child Protective Services was contacted following the search warrant because an underage person was found at the home.
$25 million in meth seized from truck at Ambassador Bridge, officials say
WINDSOR, Ontario โ Officials seized more than $25 million worth of methamphetamine from a truck entering Canada on the Ambassador Bridge on Christmas Eve, according to authorities. Police said a commercial truck entered Canada through the Ambassador Bridge on Dec. 24 in Windsor, Ontario. The truck was referred for a secondary examination, and officers found nine containers of suspected meth, officials said. The Canada Border Services Agency and Royal Canadian Mounted Police seized about 200 kilograms of suspected meth from the truck, officials said.
