2-vehicle collision kills pedestrian on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A 52-year-old pedestrian was killed Sunday when a collision caused one of the vehicles to strike him. Police said he was standing on the corner of Gratiot Avenue and Conner Street when two vehicles collided in the intersection at about 8:40 p.m. It is unknown which of the two vehicles struck the pedestrian on the corner. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. 10-year-old critically injured in collision on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – Police said two people are in critical condition after a Detroit collision that involved children. According to authorities, the collision happened at about 3:45 p.m. Friday when a 58-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet down Grand River Avenue attempted to pass a vehicle on the right, where she read-ended a Ford Escape near Southfield Road. The driver of the Ford is expected to be OK, but the driver of the Chevrolet was critically injured. Detroit father seriously injured after drag racing vehicles crash into his car, family says
DETROIT – A father in Detroit was seriously injured and requires several surgeries after a speeding car struck his vehicle. The family said the collision happened at the intersection of McGraw Avenue and Tarnow Street. They said he was sitting in his car and was about to get something to eat when the people speed racing lost control. “He was going to Detroit to actually take a part to his friend’s house, so he can fix his car. He stopped for some food,” said Ariel Resto Jr.Resto said the crash happened at about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

DETROIT – Family and friends of Rodney and Marlene Rodriguez are remembering the two after they died in a two-car collision on Michigan Avenue. According to a GoFundMe page, Rodney and Marlene were married for 43 years. Rodney just picked up his wife from work at a city casino when the crash happened on New Year’s Eve night. Larry and Tahisha Smith had just left MGM Casino when they saw the crash. Police said Rodney and Marlene were in their Mercury Sable which was split in half in the collision.

The violent collision spit one vehicle in half with the front in the middle of Michigan Avenue and the back half wrapped around a light pole on the eastbound side. DDOT bus driver injured in multi-vehicle crash near Dequindre, East Outer Drive
DETROIT – A Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) bus driver is in the hospital after a violent crash on Detroit’s east side that involved multiple vehicles. It happened at the intersection of Dequindre Street and East Outer Drive. Police said a 23-year-old driver of a Purple Magnum caused the multi-car crash involving a DDOT bus at the intersection. The bus hit some poles and the bus driver was ejected from the vehicle. The bus driver is recovering at the hospital.
Driver in Detroit crash that killed 6-year-old boy charged with second-degree murder, driving while intoxicated
DETROIT – A Detroit woman is being charged with second-degree murder and driving while intoxicated following a car crash that killed a 6-year-old boy Monday night. One 6-year-old child and the infant are Keith’s children. The other 6-year-old child and the 3-year-old were the children of a friend, according to officials. Keith’s vehicle flipped and landed upside down on Joy Road, police say. A 6-year-old boy -- who was not Keith’s child -- was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Driver arrested in Detroit crash that killed 6-year-old boy
DETROIT – Two employees at a car repair shop witnessed the violent traffic crash that killed a 6-year-old boy on Detroit’s west side Monday night. According to police, a woman driving an SUV with the boy and three other children collided with another SUV near Joy Road and Artesian Street. The 6-year-old boy, one of the son’s friends, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the SUV, along with the man driving the other SUV, were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman driving the SUV has been taken into police custody and is awaiting charges.

Detroit father charged in crash on 8 Mile Road that killed 2-year-old son
DETROIT – A Detroit father and a young man have been charged in a high-speed crash that took the life a 2-year-old child and critically injured two other kids. Michael Lipscomb Jr., 29, has been charged with second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death, and three counts of child abuse because prosecutors said his three children were in the backseat of his car. Jeffery Roberts, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death and three counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment. Detroit police said Lipscomb and Roberts were drag racing when they crashed. Prosecutors said Lipscomb had his kids in the car when he was speeding on West Eight Mile Road and Cherrylawn Street in Detroit.
EB I-94 near Conner Street now open following police investigation of fatal crash
DETROIT – All lanes on eastbound I-94 near Conner Street have been reopened Tuesday afternoon after being closed for a police investigation Tuesday morning. Michigan State Police were investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11:35 a.m. Monday on eastbound I-94 and Barrett Avenue in Detroit. Police said preliminary investigation revealed that a husband and wife were on the right shoulder changing a flat tire. The driver swerved and drove up the right embankment and struck the couple changing their tire. Police said a blood draw was completed on the pickup driver and his vehicle was impounded.
Man arrested after 6-year-old girl killed in Detroit crash
DETROIT – Police said a 43-year-old man driving a pickup at a high rate of speed disregarded a red light and collided with a Dodge Caravan that was carrying multiple passengers. A 17-year-old man was driving the Dodge Caravan southbound on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive with three passengers: A 46-year-old woman, 13-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. All of the passengers in the Dodge Caravan were transported by medics to a local hospital. A 29-year-old man was driving a Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed eastbound on 8 Mile Road when he collided into a 63-year-old woman driving a white Ford Escape. DETROIT A Detroit police officer was involved in a crash on Detroits west side. The crash happened Tuesday around 5:30 p.m .near Oakman Boulevard and Dexter Avenue. The police SUV was badly damaged, the airbag went off and it is missing a wheel. Police said officers were traveling West when a driver in an Avenger traveling south struck the officer in the intersection. The officers, driver and two passengers were transported to a hospital.

Witness says 2 girls were trapped after car crashed into house on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – A car full of people crashed into a home on Detroit’s east side. The crash happened on Schoennherr, just south of Seven Mile Road on Monday night. A witness said two girls were trapped inside until the fire department arrived on scene. Fire crews removed the door and freed the girls, according to the witness. Car slams into Detroit house after being hit by driver who ran stop sign
DETROIT – A driver who ran a stop sign sent another vehicle slamming into a house on Detroit’s west side Monday night. A Range Rover traveling north on Whitcomb ran the stop sign at Puritan Avenue and hit a Hyundai. The house’s gas meter was hit in the crash, but the residents of the home were not injured. The driver of the Hyundai was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Ranger Rover got out of their vehicle, got into another car and fled the scene.
