DETROIT – A 48-year-old woman was shot and killed overnight on Detroit’s west side, according to officials. Police said the shooting happened at 4:05 a.m. Wednesday (March 10) near Fenkell Avenue and Sussex Street. The woman was driven to a nearby hospital, but she died in the emergency room, authorities said. Detroit officers said they don’t have any additional information about the shooting or any suspects.
2 killed in Detroit house fire believed to be caused by space heaters
DETROIT – Fire crews believe space heaters were the cause of a fatal house fire Saturday morning in Detroit. According to authorities, the bodies of two men were found in a bedroom in a home on Lauder Street, near the intersection of Hubbell and Fenkell avenues. The Detroit Fire Department said several space heaters were found in the home and they believe the propane and kerosene heaters were being misused. Detroit police seek vehicle in connection with fatal October shooting on Fenkell Avenue
DETROIT – Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a vehicle wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last month on Detroit’s west side. The shooting occurred on Oct. 9 in the 18000 block of Fenkell Avenue. The victim exited the freeway at Grand River and Fenkell avenues and stopped at a traffic light when a newer model silver Chevy Impala pulled alongside him and fired shots. Detroit police need help in identifying driver in fatal hit-and-run on citys west side
DETROIT Detroit police are searching for a driver in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident on the citys west side. A 50-year-old man was struck by a light-colored SUV that was heading east on Fenkell Avenue. The vehicle is described to have a ladder rack and ladders on the roof. DETROIT Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened Saturday morning on Fenkell Avenue. According to authorities, the first shooting happened at about 1 a.m. near Ilene Street, just south of the John C Lodge Freeway. Police said a 20-year-old man was shot at a party when two men began arguing and started shooting. The second shooting happened just after 1 a.m. about a mile away, near Freeland Street. 13-year-old girl sitting on couch wounded when shot fired into home on Detroits west side
DETROIT A 13-year-old girl suffered a graze wound when someone shot into a Detroit home early Wednesday morning. According to authorities, someone fired a shot into a house in the 15000 block of Snowden Avenue, just south of Fenkell Avenue, at about 1 a.m. A 13-year-old girl was grazed by the bullet as she sat on the couch inside. Police said she was treated for her injury at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Police: Gunman killed random victim at Detroit gas station before turning gun on himself
DETROIT – A gunman killed a random person Monday at a Detroit gas station before turning the gun on himself, police said. The incident happened late Monday morning at the Mobil gas station at the corner of Fenkell Avenue and Greenfield Road on Detroit’s west side. “It doesn’t seem like these two people knew each other,” a Detroit police spokesperson said. “The person that was walking up was shot several times, and then the perpetrator turned the gun on himself,” the spokesperson said. That man is believed to be DeMarco Early, whose family says he was a nice person and didn’t deserve this fate.
Gunman murders random person at Detroit gas station before killing himself, police say
DETROIT – A gunman murdered a random person inside a Detroit gas station before killing himself, according to authorities. Police began investigating after two bodies were found at the Mobil gas station. Officials said a man at the gas station shot another person at random and then turned the gun on himself. His family members said he deserved better. The gas station is a Project Green Light location, so there are cameras all around.
Police: 64-year-old woman critically injured in hit-and-run on Detroits west side
A 64-year-old woman crossing an intersection on Detroits west side was critically injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver. A homeowner living on the corner of Fenkell Avenue and Winthrop Street said crashes like that have happened too many times before. Its been all kinds of accidents and crashes, people trying to beat the light, the homeowner said. The woman who was struck is critically injured and in a hospital. Theres both a want and a need for police to patrol more in the area in order to prevent similar crashes.
Southfield police: Man robbed, carjacked while walking to apartment building
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - A 25-year-old man was robbed by two armed suspects last night around 10 p.m. on Lahser Road, according to Southfield police. The victim was walking to an apartment complex when approached by the two suspects one a 25-year-old man and the second an unidentified male who the police believe is also in his mid-twenties, according to the release. The suspects took the victim's black Chevrolet Equinox. The car was later found around 12:30 a.m. near Fenkell Avenue and Burt Road in Detroit after a police chase.
