Dear Abby: Sister’s differing recollection of departed mother make for hard conversations
DEAR ABBY: My mother, who died recently, wasn’t subtle about favoring my younger sister. Our mother was cruel to me at times, and June knows it, but she continues to talk glowingly about her. My brother has told Mom it makes it harder for him to make a clean break, but she continues to meet regularly with Jenny. I told Mom I have chosen not to contact Jenny because it hurts my brother. Dear Abby: I’m not close with my birth mother. Is she entitled to know details of my personal life?
DEAR ABBY: I have two mothers: my biological mother and Mom, who raised me. I feel this is her, once again, feeling entitled to my life and trying to treat me as property. Your birth mother is “entitled” only to those details of your life you are willing to share with her. We have always been responsible, and I’m convinced this is a responsible way to introduce alcohol to a minor. My husband tells me to stand up for myself, but I don’t want to explode on my mom when she is simply seeking affection. HOWELL, Mich. For many families back to school time marks a milestone, and that means you may celebrate with special traditions, but in the middle of a pandemic, those traditions may look different this year. It kind of fires us up for the fall season and ends up being a lot of fun for the kids too, Weber said. Whatever you can do thats going to satisfy your heart and your childrens heart is the best possible scenario.MORE: Return to School

How to prevent boredom in your children inside at home
DETROIT Weve spent months staying home, staying safe and staying indoors. Those are one of the things that theyll go have their own accord, pull them out and its probably at least a good 30 minutes to an hour of imaginative play acting out all sorts of different things, Jeeyoung said. Another easy idea is to turn your kitchen table into a craft station with whatever you already have around the house. Jeeyoung likes to use a roll of paper -- the bigger the better -- and then add to it. Even with gardening and things like that, but it was even with the bigger boxes, my kids have had a blast.

Short on cash, not on love? Win mom over with these ideas -- all inexpensive or free
You don’t have to go gourmet -- plenty of supermarkets have inexpensive and delicious doughnuts. If you’re able to do this one in person instead, even better (but we’re admittedly a little envious). Pick something mom loves and engage in the game-playing with her (and your siblings, if they're around). Bottom line: Just spend some quality time with her doing something she’ll enjoy, whether it’s in person or virtually. We promise you don’t have to spend a lot of money to please moms.
