Airports are beginning to resume normal operations across the U.S. Wednesday morning after all departing flights were delayed due to an overnight Federal Aviation Administration computer outage that affected the national airspace.
Passenger dies after falling six stories at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport
ROMULUS, Mich. – A man was killed Friday after being injured from falling six stories inside the atrium of the Westin Hotel at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. A representative with the airport said that paramedics attempted to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation.
Michigan State Sen. Mike Shirkey returns from Trump visit, does not answer questions
DETROIT – The envoy of Michigan Republican lawmakers who traveled to the White House Friday for a controversial meeting with President Donald Trump returned home Saturday. Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey refused to answer questions despite releasing a statement the day before. There were also photos of Chatfield and several other Michigan Republicans drinking inside Trump Hotel while seated at a table. The State Board of Canvassers meets Monday to vote on certifying the state election. Since the presidential election Republican leaders have made allegations of voter fraud without substantial evidence.

Wayne County GOP canvassers say call from Trump did not influence vote decisions
DETROIT – The two GOP members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers said the presidential election played no role in their decision despite receiving a phone call from President Donald Trump. The presidential phone call is where the controversy begins, but they both said the president’s only concern was for their safety. Monica Palmer said she has deep concerns for her daughter’s safety and William Hartmann has reportedly gone into hiding. Wayne County Board of Canvassers vice chair Jonathan Kinloch said he believes their explanation falls flat. The Michigan Secretary of State’s office said in a statement Thursday that there is no legal mechanism for two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers to rescind their votes cast for certification.

DETROIT A Delta flight from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was delayed for about an hour Thursday when two people refused to wear a mask. RELATED: What Delta Airlines is doing to continue protecting passengers from COVID-19According to someone on the flight, the plane was taxiing and about to take off when two passengers refused to put their masks on. The plane turned around and the two passengers were removed from the flight. A representative with Delta Airlines said flight 1227 from Detroit to Atlanta had to return to the gate when two customers were not complying with crew instructions and were removed due to not following Deltas mask requirement.
Detroit police seek 62-year-old woman with mental health condition
DETROIT Police are seeking assistance to locate a 62-year-old woman who went missing Wednesday. According to authorities, Joyce Osley was last seen at about 12:30 p.m. by her neighbor, who dropped her off at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airports Delta Terminal to purchase tickets. She was last seen wearing a white button shirt, black pants and white open-toe sandals. Osley is in good physical condition, but her family said she suffers from a mental health condition.
