Police have determined that a woman who was shot and killed by Detroit officers this weekend for pointing and waving a gun at gas station customers and employees was armed with an airsoft pistol, according to the chief.
Teen wanted for fleeing from Detroit police after allegedly pointing gun at woman
DETROIT – Police are looking for a teenager who is accused of pointing a gun at a woman while driving in Detroit, then fleeing police and abandoning his vehicle with children inside on Friday night. Detroit police say at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 15, an officer pulled alongside a woman driving west on Seven Mile Road near Hayes Street at a high rate of speed. The police officer attempted to pull over the teen driving the Mitsubishi, but the teen turned around and fled east on Seven Mile Road, striking the officer’s vehicle on the passenger side in the process. Officials say other officers in the area saw and pursued the suspect to the 5700 block of Farmbrook Street, where the teen abandoned his vehicle and continued fleeing on foot. Police say the suspect left behind two small children inside the vehicle he abandoned.
16-year-old injured in shooting on Detroit’s east side
DETROIT – Police said a 16-year-old was shot Saturday on Detroit’s east side. Investigators said the teen was walking down Carlisle Street near Gratiot Avenue and Hayes Street. 27-year-old man shot by intruders inside mother’s Detroit home
DETROIT – A 27-year-old man was shot Wednesday night by men who broke into his mother’s home on Detroit’s east side. Officials say the victim went to check in on his unwell mother at her home in the 14900 block of Lappin Street near Hayes Street and Seven Mile Road. Upon entering the house, the victim discovered that his mother was not home -- rather two intruders were inside and armed. The 27-year-old man was able to drive himself to the hospital where he is currently in surgery. The mother, who was out shopping at the time, later arrived at the home after the incident and was not harmed.

Family seeks answers in death of woman found in vehicle in Detroit
DETROIT – The family of Charlatta Roper is asking for the public’s help in her death. Police said her body was found in the back seat of a car, found in an alley near Wilshire and Hayes. Robert Johnson, Roper’s uncle, is asking some tough questions Thursday night, and he said he knows someone has the answer. DETROIT – Police are investigating a verbal altercation that led to a deadly shooting at a Detroit gas station on Wednesday. At about 10:20 p.m. occupants inside of a silver Ford Taurus engaged in a verbal altercation with occupants inside a black Ford Fusion in the 15200 block of 7 Mile Road near Hayes Street, police said. The altercation led to a shoot-out between the passengers of both vehicles. Two men who were standing near the vehicles at the time of the shooting were struck by gunfire, police said. DETROIT – Seven people were injured -- six of them children -- in a three-car crash on Detroit’s east side, police said. The crash happened Tuesday morning on Hayes Street at Hazelridge Street, according to authorities. Police said the driver who caused the crash ran away from the scene. One adult woman was injured and is being treated, officials said. Five girls and one boy, ranging in age from 5 to 13 years old, suffered minor injuries, police said.
