Long history of crashes on M-14 bridge prompt Ann Arbor officials to take action
ANN ARBOR, MI – Ann Arbor officials concerned about the number of crashes on the M-14 bridge over the Huron River are asking the state to do something about it. “The problem we’ve seen over time is connected, in various ways, to the merge/weave lane over the bridge,” Michigan Department of Transportation Communications Representative Aaron Jenkins said. Though the bridge, and much of M-14, runs through Ann Arbor Township and is maintained by MDOT, the river under the bridge is maintained by the city as it continues south through Ann Arbor. Before MDOT would consider closing the ramp, it would need a resolution of support from the Ann Arbor City Council requesting MDOT to do so. However, this option will impact the adjacent City of Ann Arbor park and trail properties, which will require extensive public involvement and engagement, as well as a comprehensive environmental review.mlive.com
