Member of Wolverine Watchmen faces felony weapons charge
LANSING, Mich. – A known member of the Wolverine Watchmen and Clarkston resident was arraigned on two felony weapons charges Monday, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Maxwell Wyckoff, 22, was arraigned Monday in the 52nd District Court, Division 3, in Oakland County before Magistrate Marie Soma. “My office will not hesitate to pursue and prosecute any individual who would go to such lengths.”As a member of the Wolverine Watchmen, Wyckoff attended multiple field training exercises at a location in Munith, Michigan. The FBI and the Michigan State Police conducted an extensive investigation into the Wolverine Watchmen and their activities. As a result of this investigation and the information obtained, search warrants were authorized on the residences of multiple members of the Wolverine Watchmen, including Wyckoff.

Ridgewood’s Little Free Pantry: Clarkston community bands together to help neighbors in need
That need inspired a contagious spirit of giving, which has been displayed in hundreds of acts of kindness. The project started last spring with tomato plant seedlings that were grown in their greenhouse. The roadside table became a small pantry where neighbors could share any extra food they had. Road commission investigates sinkhole on busy Clarkston road after video goes viral
CLARKSTON, Mich. – A Clarkston man became concerned when he noticed a pothole on a busy road, so he tested its depth with a PVC pipe. “I thought it was a regular pothole, and the more I inspected it, there was no bottom,” said resident Josh Turcsak. Turcsak grabbed a long pipe from his garage and recorded a video of him lowering the pipe into the hole on Clarkston Road -- and that video went viral. The Oakland County Road Commission also said there is no danger to the public and that the road is not going to collapse.

Woman’s car hit by falling concrete from bridge on I-75 in Oakland County
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A Clarkston woman was driving her normal route when a chunk of concrete from an overpass on Interstate 75 smashed into her windshield. Tracie Moonen was at Exit 93 on Dixie Highway at I-75 when the concrete hit her vehicle. Initially, she wondered if someone had thrown something, but the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office went out there and assessed what happened. Clarkston man hospitalized multiple times with COVID-19 complications
CLARKSTON, Mich. – Chris Long is a father of three, and at 54 years old he was active and a mostly healthy, decades-long cancer survivor. However, when he was exposed to COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic, there was no predicting how his life would change. After going in for surgery last February when doctors didn’t have a word for the illness, Long began experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Long woke up in the hospital three days later and stayed for another two days. When symptoms returned in April, he went back.

Clarkston Community Schools shift to distance learning due to spread of COVID-19
CLARKSTON, Mich. – Clarkston Community Schools says it has 35 positive COVID-19 cases in the school district and hundreds of staff in students in quarantine. Because of that, and a recommendation from the health division, all Clarkston Community Schools will be shifting to distance learning. “The virus rates in our community continue to rise exponentially, and what we are experiencing as a district is a reflection of this,” Clarkston Community Schools Superintendent Shawn Ryan said. Because of that advisory all face-to-face instruction in all buildings is paused and the schools will transition to distance learning. Michigan movie makers host digital Q&A alongside premiere
DETROIT – The Metro Detroit-shot film “A Bennett Song Holiday” is celebrating its premiere screening Sunday with a special Q&A event after the movie. The movie, a follow up to 2018′s “Bennett’s Song,” features the Bennett-Song family as they work together to solve a community crisis. Ruby Tuesday files for bankruptcy leaving many Michigan restaurants closed
DETROIT – Ruby Tuesday has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy leaving many of its Michigan based restaurants closed including ones in Clarkston, Sterling Heights, Taylor, Saline, Mount Pleasant, Midland and Gaylord. Despite the bankruptcy Ruby Tuesday still has Michigan restaurants open in Big Rapids, South Canton and Cadillac. We remain committed to providing our guests with safe, quality experiences at all our current locations,” said Jenifer Boyd Harmon, chief marketing officer for Ruby Tuesday. According to reports a total of 185 Ruby Tuesday restaurants will be closed across the country due to the bankruptcy filing and restructuring efforts by the company. The company reportedly started closing locations before the bankruptcy filing.

Clarkston Community Schools to make gradual return to in-person learning

They’re making a gradual return to in-person learning. The Clarkston school district is slowly welcoming students back to school. The district of 7,200 students and 400 teachers has an intricate schedule that has the youngest coming back first. COVID-19 has managed to do what years of trying to has not -- and that is forcing smaller class sizes.

Oakland Schools to still offer recently-cut trade program after students speak out
CLARKSTON, Mich. Oakland Schools will still offer a trade program that was recently abruptly cut, affecting dozens of students plans. The district abruptly canceled one of its trade programs at Northwest Technical Campus on Thursday, telling students they lost the teacher. The 61 students enrolled in the visual imaging program reportedly got a letter from the dean stating that they lost their instructor and were unable to find a qualified replacement. The Oakland Schools visual imaging program dates back to 1972. Its recent cancelation took an emotional toll on the dozens of students enrolled in the program who rely on the course to advance their academic and professional careers.

The Michigan Secretary of State is refuting a report that Russians have shared the personal data of nearly every Michigan voter. A report published by a Russian newspaper claims internet users in Russia have stolen information on millions of voters in Michigan, Arkansas, Connecticut, North Carolina and Florida.

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Clarkston family is in mourning after a fatal incident in White Lake Township on Monday left a man dead and his stepdaughter shaken. Oak Park returned the first kickoff of the game 85 yards for a score and then Clarkston followed up with a kickoff straight into the end zone. Oak Park was in the lead by 28-13 late in the first half, but with the help of an amazing crowd, Clarkston was motivated and determined to catch up. The 4th quarter is where Clarkston took their final lead with the score being 41-40, and the rest was history once Oak Park sacked Clarkston's next possession and recovered the ball. Oak Park took over the game in the last three minutes, bringing them to a triumphant end, 64-41.

Emoni Bates fever, great matchups highlight final week of prep boys hoops season
Believe it or not, the final week of the boys high school basketball season is upon us, with quarterfinal games set to take place Tuesday throughout the state in all four divisions. The semifinals will be Thursday and Friday at Michigan State University’s Breslin Center, with the championship games set for Saturday. The next stop for Bates and Lincoln is a Division 1 state quarterfinal on Tuesday against Detroit Martin Luther King at Detroit Mercy’s Calihan Hall. Last year’s Class B champion, Benton Harbor, was beaten in a regional final by Hudsonville Unity Christian.
